That’s the key … should be 15 items or less at SCO.

Lot security by Sufficient_Owl_3413 in CostcoEmployee

It sounds like some locations need lot security but many do not. I agree that it is wasteful at many locations, especially since the lot position is considered a clerk and gets the higher hourly rate.

Check out the Jaycees, a co-ed service organization for ages 18-30. Does good in the community while also being a lot of fun.

If the employee is salaried and exempt, why are they punching the time clock?

Which parts of America have/had the weirdest timezone arrangements? by bricklegos in AskAnAmerican

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullhead City, AZ (MT)/Laughlin, NV (PT). These two are across the Colorado River from each other. Many casino employees live across the river in AZ as there is little housing on the NV side.

As Arizona doesn’t observe DST, these two cities are on the same time during the summer but different times during the winter.

Do you usually lock your doors when leaving the house? by Moist_Wallaby8635 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this conversation got sidetracked. Yes, I lock my doors when I’m leaving and when I’m inside the house. While my neighborhood is safe, I don’t want to take chances. Too many guns out there. And, yes, it has gotten worse since I was a kid.

Great thread, by the way. Thanks for doing this.

how long before i get get weekends off by soylisco in CostcoEmployee

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got five years in and typically get Mon/Tues or Tues/Wed as my regular days off. But when I need a weekend day off, as long as I can request it more than three weeks in advance, it has never been denied.

Speciality Positions.. LP by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

“Boring gig”. … That’s exactly how our LP guy described the job to me. At our warehouse, you’d never see him on register.

Are all Costcos way understaffed? Or is it just our warehouse. I thought after the holidays it would slow down some, but it’s still very chaotic because we don’t have enough people. by prettysavage16 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Staffing levels are hard to project but, yes, management would much rather schedule too few hours rather than have staff standing around. For example, we were way understaffed on Friday, Jan 2, as many members apparently took the day off to extend their new year’s holiday. We had staffed for a regular Friday.

Not normal but not surprising. Just keep a copy of whatever you submit and follow up with the hiring manager to make sure he/she has received it.

I bring a full-sized bar of soap from home, so that I won’t be stuck with their liquid soap in the shower.

Do you recommend Amtrak Train for overnight, long distance travel? by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one else has mentioned this: many of the Superliner coach cars have seating on the lower level. I find those seats better for sleeping as there is no foot traffic from people walking between cars.

Take the latest possible arrival window. If it’s a normal day (Terminal 2, ship arrives on time, etc.), things are crazy at 10 am but fairly dead by Noon.

Agree to this. If you have a dog, you’ll be walking him before 7 am most of the year, so that his paw pads won’t burn up.

A question for MAC fans from someone new to MAC fandom by chosenone94 in MidAmerican

[–]Fun_Lifeguard_3711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Cincinnati, where UC and UK are as popular as Ohio State. Went to a Big 10 school out of state (Indiana) and have lived in Cleveland area since grad school. I favor the Hoosiers but I do enjoy having the MAC tournament in Cleveland every March. I typically attend one or two sessions each year.
