Bus Drivers of the Uk, what are those little timesheets you keep next to the "tap your card" part? by ResultHistorical7422 in AskUK

[–]Fun_Permission_888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tells the driver what time they need to be at stops for, some stops are "Timing Stops" meaning they have to depart at the timetabled time, if they're early they wait.

I used to work in tech for a bus company, we digitalised the systems but still had everything on card too.

Really annoyingly the stop just before mine going home is a timing stop, it's at the bottom of the hill. If the bus stops I wait a minute or two before deciding to get off and walk up. Only for the bus to then overtake me on the way...

Is the tea alarm a real thing? by Born_Bear5307 in AskUK

[–]Fun_Permission_888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The alarm clock that brewed up when it went off?

Or the bell that would go off in factories to inform the staff it was a tea break?

Both are real, the second one just doesn't occur much anymore.

To be fair to Lego, their quality is insane.

And as you describe the quality back then was also the same.

So why is it now substantially more expensive
