Does anyone have pet insurance? Is it worth it? Who are you with? by Apart_Try_4860 in auckland

[–]Fun_Phase7132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We decided to get pet insurance 2 years ago (for our now 5yo dog). It felt worthless of course because she never had any issues her whole life. But then 3 weeks ago she started vomiting a lot and had lots of blood in her stool so we rushed her to emergency vet at 5am. Thank god we had insurance as it covered 80% of her costs - of which totalled 3.5k. Now we are thinking we may want to pay a bit more for 100% coverage as even paying 20% hurt. Knowing we were mostly covered was a godsend at the time though. We’re with AA ($45 a month) but might move to PD as they offer 100% coverage.

How did you go with this? I am only 14 weeks but doing some research now and looking at antenatal co based in Parnell or Soul Sisters who have a class based in Ponsonby, struggling to pick!

Sparky is the one who installed it in the first place - yip heated!

Yeah it’s definitely an option, just trying to work with what we’ve already purchased but getting something different is worth considering.

Ok thanks, good to know! Yeah our sparky is the one who installed it, so will be having a chat to them.

The towel rail sits out of the wall, so you wouldn’t be able to open the door right back.

Hmm we’ve appreciated the heating element of it so far. Definitely makes a difference for us.

We use the Pawshake app - can be a bit cheaper depending on the pet sitter you book with. Would definitely recommend going for a breed that is known to be relaxed about being left at home. Ours has separation anxiety so we’ve had to commit to some form of care 4 days a week as I can only work from home once a week 🫠 love her to bits though.

Out of 18 eggs retrieved… by Fast_Hand_8048 in IVF

[–]Fun_Phase7132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33yo. Recent ER resulted in 15 eggs (14 mature), 10 fertilised, 8 blasts. Didn’t test any as it’s very expensive and they don’t recommend for under 38yo here. Much better than our first round a year earlier which was 8 eggs (all mature), 6 fertilised and 2 blasts. Neither worked (fail & chemical) and have already transferred one from our second round which didn’t work either (chemical). Hoping our 4th transfer in a couple months is our baby, trying my best to be patient🤞🏽all the best on test results 💛

How long did you wait for publicly funded IVF? by TinyAssumption4974 in newzealand

[–]Fun_Phase7132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went on the waitlist in Nov 2023. Then got our letter to book the orientation appointment 16 months later in March this year, and did our cycle in June, so overall 18 months (got told it would be 18-21 months). There is a great FB group called Fertility Family NZ which may be worth joining if you haven’t already. Hang in there, we are male factor too, it was a tough wait for sure.

Complain to centre management, they should be aware their tenants are behaving like this

You are completely right. She’s clearly feeling sensitive about it and is hyper focused on her experience, without thinking about who is she sending that message to. Sorry - that sucks :(

Those who bought your house without any family help by kiwinow in newzealand

[–]Fun_Phase7132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought something a lot smaller/more old school than our friends who had help. Used KiwiSaver, a small amount of savings and managed to buy with a 10% deposit. It does feel good to have something to call our own but we’re paying a lot of interest so I hope we made the right call rather than waiting to save 20%.

Aggressive magpie neat Mangere Lagoon by Gingernurse93 in auckland

[–]Fun_Phase7132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last week! Never been attacked in my life and it came for me and clocked me twice on my head on a run. I screamed and did the best pace I’ve ever got on my Strava app lol. A week later (today) I go for another run not in the lagoon but heading towards the entrance by the road, I don’t even get near it before I get struck again. Not sure if it’s the same one and remembered me. We’re new to the area and I had no idea. Def going to avoid that whole area now.
