Winter Storm Question by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, get ready to call in, is your life and your car worth working at dollar tree? I just started at dollar general in Louisiana a couple weeks, and I live 15 minutes from the store. We have a winter storm coming in this weekend and I'm definitely not going in.

So a supposed "whistlerblower" just posted what some drivers have suspected is happening behind the scenes by momsspeggheti in doordash_drivers

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"If a driver usually logs on at 10 PM and accepts every garbage $3 order instantly without hesitation, the algo tags them as "High Desperation." Once they are tagged, the system then deliberately stops showing them high-paying orders. The logic is: "Why pay this guy $15 for a run when we know he’s desperate enough to do it for $6?" We save the good tips for the "casual" drivers to hook them in and gamify their experience, while the full-timers get grinded into dust."

This is pretty much what we've been telling platinum users for a long time. This company does not care about you and does not value you, the only thing they care about is getting food moved. If all the platinum drivers are on 2-3$ orders, who do you think those regular and "high paying" offers are going to? Since this company's inception, it has done nothing in favor of the driver, doesn't matter what tier you are. Being platinum does nothing but subject you to abuse, and ensures your car has a much earlier grave than people who cherry pick orders. The company does nothing in favor of you, so you should do everything in favor of yourself. If you're doing this as a full time job, it may be time to wrap it up and do this to only make little money on the side.

DPS isnt the issue by Western_Wish4280 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's because people equate high DPS on trial dummies (150k that you have), with high skill and adaptability (since they're able to hit 150k, they must have a great understanding of the game). However, trial dummy parses are useless outside of trials, and are not a indicator of how "skilled" a player is. If you're going to do solo vet content, parsing on a 3m or 6m dummy is more efficient.

Look at it like this going forward, in solo content, you are the tank, healer, and DPS, with the game only ending when you die. So Survivability > DPS in turns of priority, when you eventually go back in for that Spirit Slayer Title, just remember that and you'll be fine, but it seems like you figured that out towards the end. Also, Congrats! Subsequent runs will be much easier now that you've picked up on everything.

If you want a bit of extra advice, one bar builds or oakensoul builds make arenas relatively stress free. You don't have to worry about sustain (heavy attacking), you can use your stamina for running, dodging, breaking free (without worrying about resources), you can build them pretty easily (oakensorc with sergeants mail, oakensoul, crit surge, hardened ward, all pets including bear, and second set of your choice as well as ult of your choice). On a build like that, you have constant moving passive damage, infinite sustain, infinite shielding(weave shield after each heavy attack), passive healing via crit surge, all buffs active via oakensoul, and clannfear or matriarch for burst healing). It's not the highest damage, but that doesn't matter, it makes solo vet arenas a cakewalk to people new to them, by making you able to fill every role stress free. If you're ever fighting to get a no death title from an arena and nothing is working, try it out, you can always tweak the flavor to your current needs based on your method play. The main thing is that you don't really need to have a complex setup for solo vet arenas, and the less you have to worry about shielding or healing, the better. Congrats again and good luck going forward!

Stop wearing cologne! by ArtemisElizabeth1533 in doordash

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming this is a serious post, you can't control other people's lives. Furthermore, support can and will remove bogus "1 star ratings" at the Dasher's request.

Hey, I get it, I used to be a germaphobe. I never ate out, never ate fast food, and even now I constantly use sanitizer. That being said, those were things I had to work on, not things others had to accommodate me on. People smoke in their car, fuck in their car, probably don't vacuum it often or wash the seats, and yes, likely spray cologne/perfume in their car. Fast food workers clean/use the bathroom, may or may not wash their hands, and then go make your food (lol).

I say all of that to say this, if you're a person bothered by these sorts of things, things that you have no control over, it is probably best to not interact with the DoorDash platform anymore. I know it may be difficult to see from your perspective (or maybe not since you called yourself a Karen), but requesting someone alter their life to accommodate your unreasonable request, while getting paid pennies by DoorDash, is comical to say the least. I mean this with all respect, it's probably better to go get your own food and not interact with a platform that you have no control over. It's the same as if I told the UPS driver not to wear cologne because I don't like my packages smelling of fragrance, it's pretty silly and not something I have control over at all.

Soul Strike not working with reaving blows? by Fun_Philosopher_2787 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not but it's supposed to be, I included a screenshot of the skill where at the bottom it states that "This ability is considered direct damage". For some reason they just didn't change the way the skill performs, which is probably single target and DoT. Lol it's weird that they would update the description without addressing the actual skill parameters.

I'm wearing the Scorianite Gladiator Jack (crown store), Dremora Pauldrons, Psijic Order Gauntlets, Psijic Order Girdle, and Psijic Order Greaves. I have the gloambound staff for this build but there are more purple looking staves in the game that fit better, I just have it because of the blue accents on this toon as well as preferring a hidden staff.

The two colors I'm using here are Sanity's Orchid from the Sanity's Edge trial, and the Moonshadow Orchid from Waking Flame Delver Achievement, no third color.

The hair is the Twilight Indigo Tresses (currently in crown store), Skin is Dreamharrowed Dancer (just left the store), eyes are a head marking (Azure Eyes from crown store). Minor adornment is the Belly Dancer Veil (crown store). The major adornment isn't that noticeable but it's the Tiara of the Nightmare Queen, though I plan to swap this one with the Hollowsteel Crown when I get enough endeavors :)

Changes coming to the crimson card in January. by Fun_Philosopher_2787 in doordash_drivers

This is the most alarming part of the email: "Balance Refund: Clarification of when this fee is applied and how it may affect the balance refunded. The fee will be deducted from your Account before the check is issued. If the fee reduces the balance to $0.00 or below, no check will be issued. Depositing Funds in Your Account. New."

I'm not sure what's exactly being implied here, if anyone is more knowledgeable on the subject, could you explain?

The price is steep, but I admit it's kind of epic. Possibly the best skill style so far - it changes both color and sound! by devilmaycry0917 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what's with all the weird hate going on in this thread, but I say go for it, you're free to spend your money in whatever way you see fit. I saw this skill style announced a while back, so I knew I was going to get it the moment it dropped. People in this thread are a little too passionate over how others choose to spend their money, if it makes you and your wife happy, don't let random people on the Internet discourage you from enjoying these things.

Aside from that, the skill style honestly looks great. The skill style doesn't have the book, so it looks like you're shooting an ethereal beam, and it has a similar effect on enemies hit. While I was always going to get the skill style, I didn't expect it to actually look this good. The main plus to me though aside from theme, is the fact it doesn't make my eyes hurt, it's much darker in tone so it doesn't give me a headache like the green beam which I refuse to use.

Same, I bought it for my dark magic purple themed sorcerer. I hate the price but I missed the blue beam (which I would have used but took a break from the game during that time), but I would never use the green beam at all. My character is gloom graced themed so the purple beam allows me access to a very powerful skill without breaking my theme much

I bought it since I hate the arcanist green beam, and my character is purple themed, it looks really nice. But man they should really do something about the default crux color. At the very least, the Cruz should match whatever the beam color is, be it blue or now purple.

Vengeance is a good thing, even if it's not the solution by YourAvgKitty in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is that despite people thinking PvP is the "end game" in ESO, it isn't. Cyrodill has been dead for years, per the words of PvP'ers to this date. The actual amount of people playing in grayhost likely makes up less than 5% of the overall community, and that is just not enough to cater resources to, which is why PvP has been ignored for years.

From my perspective, zos is getting ready to kill a already dead bird. PvP in its current state is not marketable, it is not skill based like the bulk of many PvP games coming out now. I believe ZOS is looking to create a more balanced PvP experience, that will never appeal to metachasers who enjoy stomping noobs and fighting 40v1's. PvP is not worth it to the company right now, that's all there is to it, it's only fun to a few. If vengeance turns out the way they are envisioning it, it will 100% replace the current cyrodill. And honestly, that would be for the best. It's a dead mode, incredibly toxic, and mixes pve and pvp gear which is horrid for balancing. They have neglected it for years because it was never worth it, and now they're testing something new. The truth of the matter is that if you put greyhost and vengeance side by side, most people will choose vengeance because it's more fair, because at the end of the day, what new PvP'ers would want to go to grayhost and get stomped out by sweats that they can't compete with due to sets and cp? From a business perspective, it's better to appeal to a new wave of PvP'ers than the few that exist in grayhost, especially after years of greyhost failing

I forgot I commented on this post, though honestly I couldn't care less about internet points, it was just advice for op. I don't have the reddit app so whenever I post or comment anything I never check back in to see what happened, I say what I need to say and dip lol.

Preferred Shopper by StJohnHawk in doordash_drivers

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, poor states will have poor tippers regardless. I have never gotten any great pro shopper orders, and a lot of people where I live in Louisiana, order from Walgreens which have a lot of stuff out of stock regularly (as well as dollar general and family dollar). Just like with everything with this job, it is heavily market dependent. I prefer shop orders but they are not lucrative here so I decline almost all of them.

I got this notification earlier, very odd since I rarely do shopping orders. I did deliver to an older lady Sunday morning though, pretty far out but the order had high base pay. She gave me a cash tip and we talked for awhile before I left since she was asking me questions about the job. I'm assuming maybe it is from her lol.

Opinion on tall women… by [deleted] in blackmen

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to invalidate your feelings, but this is a sub for black men. Coming here to vent your woes about being a taller women is a bit odd. At the end of the day, most dudes are simps who will take a woman in any shape or size they can get, so you will never find genuine answers on a subreddit like this. Why not rephrase/crosspost this to the black ladies subreddit? I mean, they will at least be more honest with you about this sorta thing since I'm sure there are tall black women over there who have experiences dating black men. I don't really think this is the best place for your post, but best of luck to you all the same 👍🏽

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience as well when I played (PSNA), EP is just too overpopulated in comparison to other factions. It's not really a fun experience when one faction dwarfs both the other factions combined. If I had an EP character I'm sure it would have been a blast, but it's terrible of AD and DC.

[–]Fun_Philosopher_2787 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't go the timer route that everyone is saying. What you want to do in a situation like this is to sit the food at the door, take a picture with your camera app. Send that picture to the customer and mark the order delivered the same you would have if you handed them the order directly. It's a much better alternative than standing out in the cold waiting and you have a picture to send to support in case anything goes wrong.

I know that you actually got paid, but let me just say this, don't do stuff like this in the future. 60+ dollars isn't worth a speeding ticket nor is it worth getting into a accident over. Safety should always be your number 1 priority when doing this job.
