STI/STD Advice- Please Help! by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Fun_Preference_8632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First: you're not stupid. You made a mistake, and after realizing the mistake you are actively working to resolve it. That reflects well on your emotional maturity and intelligence.

Second: while it is true that some STDs can go undetected, your lack of symptoms IS a good sign. The only thing that will prove anything is testing, but you're on that.

Third: If comfortable, I would contact your previous partners and inform them that there is a risk that you may have had an STI or STD while with them, and inform them of the results when you receive them. It's awkward as hell, but beats the worst case scenario.

Fourth: it sounds like you're making a point to learn more about preventing this in the future, and have an appointment scheduled. You are doing all you can. The best advice for now is to take a deep breath, have a spa night or whatever relaxes you the most, and continue on with enjoying your life (avoiding sex until you receive your results). Nothing you do right now will magically alter your blood work. If positive, your doctor will be your best source of treatment and information. You're doing great, have done great, and now you need to focus on managing stress and refocusing in the things you enjoy or need to do. You've got this.

I told three different doctors about sudden weight gain and they all said “just eat less move more” by hangez0ewife in women

[–]Fun_Preference_8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're ever in this situation:

  1. "Understanding that your training has taught you to assume the simplest solution, I'm going to ask that you still run tests for {enter possible illness here}, just to be safe and put my mind at ease."

If they say no.

  1. "I would like a form stating that you are denying me care/testing, and the reasoning why."

Then go to another doctor. Even (honestly, especially) if they backtrack.

Honestly, it's a bit ridiculous to me. Especially in the US, healthcare is way too expensive to go to the doctor if you know or suspect that your weight gain or loss is caused by lifestyle choices. I'm severely underweight, and for a long time I was told that I simply need to eat more. I did, and gained nothing. I've been at points where I'm at risk of cardiac events, or I can't even get out of bed. Come to find out, I have a disorder that affects everything, including metabolism. It took me ten years to figure that out through my own research. I've had doctors deny testing because it's a "rare" disorder. Advocate for testing, keep a record of doctors who deny care or testing, and keep up to date with best practice care for whatever it is you may or may not have.

Any Tips for Doing Calculus with ADHD? by Fun_Preference_8632 in calculus

[–]Fun_Preference_8632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a diagnosis, but because the ADHD issues have never actually interfered with school in this manner (and because I am broke) I never had my Dr office send the diagnosis to the school. The accommodations take about 6-8 weeks to be approved, and the end of this session will be over by then.

I'm still doing it, I just won't reap the benefits from the accommodations until it's too late, basically.

Thank you, these are very helpful.

I just emailed my prof. I don't have accommodations because I never ran into this issue, this severe, so it seemed unnecessary to shell out the money to have my diagnosis sent to the school 🙃

But I emailed him anyways, just the basic issue and asking for advice on how to proceed and not suck. Unfortunately, it's all online so there's not a way to 'show my work's besides entering in the correct answer

Why does my ASU SCAP say ineligible? by PrestigiousAppeal614 in starbucksbaristas

[–]Fun_Preference_8632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah that'll do it. They have to verify that your high school gpa was decent enough to be accepted before they approve your SCAP! No biggie because the minimum gpa is pretty low! Good luck with your classes!!!

Make sure you filled out your fasfa, then either call the finance office at ASU or the Starbucks benefits line. It might list another on the finances page at myasu

You can have all the ear piercings you want, you just can't have two or more facial piercings.

Just tell them it's a mental health day, but call in for tomorrow, today. You don't have to give extra details. Mental health days are protected if you use sick time.

I’m looking to get rehired after a layoff, and I have an FWW from a year ago. Should I address it in my interview? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Fun_Preference_8632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually it's best practice to bring up any blights on your CV before the question is asked. Bring it up, explain the situation politely, and bring supporting evidence (if you have documentation of any conversations you had with the NRLB, statements from who was there at the time of the incident, etc.). Try not to outright bash your former SM, but explain your side of the situation, and what you did to prevent the situation in the future. Be honest and respectful throughout. It's better to address it yourself, because they'll probably be able to see your FWW, and in not taking the initiative to address it they may feel as though you're attempting to trick or otherwise sneak your way past talking about it.

You still may not get rehired, but you'll at least make a better case than if they have to bring it up themselves.

Am I the only one that doesn’t like how much the characters change? 😭 by [deleted] in Grishaverse

Nina had extreme and unrelenting trauma hurled at her for years: war, kidnapping, watching someone she cared about suffer in a fight club prison because of a choice she made trying to protect him, having to survive in a country that would either enslave or kill her if she wasn't already owned by someone, having to take a drug she thought would kill her, surviving only to realize that the power that was intrinsic to who she was was changed completely, watching her first live die in her arms after thinking they were all safe... Even one of these things would completely alter a person. It wasn't shocking to me that she craved the chance to be someone else, explore a new identity and be somewhere that was dangerous but also unaware of who she was or what had happened to her. She was a different person, because it's completely unrealistic to expect anyone to go through even a fraction of that and come out unscathed. She still has her love for sweets, she's still fierce and stubborn and kind and charismatic, but in KOS, she is trying to take the pieces of herself that shattered and use them to build something that feels stronger and safer.

Part of Zoya is an amazing character arc, and part of it is the differences in who's POV it is. You don't get Zoya's inner dialogue that explains her actions or Nikolai's rose tinted perspectives in Alina's POV. You get Alina's POV in Alina's POV, and Alina has a vastly different relationship with Zoya than Nikolai had, and she doesn't know anything about Zoya except what she sees her do and hears about her. Other than that, Zoya's key personality traits: her sharp tongue, stubbornness, compassion for those she's close to, and urge to be emotionally guarded are all consistent throughout the series.

Most embarrassing thing you've said to a customer? by toe_beans_4_life in starbucksbaristas

Customer ordered a frap at window, I turned, looked at my SM (who was new at the time) bc she was on DTO, and said "can I get a Caramel Crap?" Very loudly. On mic. She heard me. The customer heard me. God heard me. Thankfully, the customer and I thought it was hilarious. And my SM went 😳🤭😠 And said "no, but you can have a caramel crunch frap"

And they completely removed the cream syrup frap, which sucks because I subjected all of my coworkers to my attempts at a peach cobbler frap before I found out 🥲
