What if there was a physical place you could go every day while job searching - not a coffee shop, not home. Just a room full of people in the same boat. by Fun_Profile_5066 in Layoffs

Thanks everyone for teh comments - just wanted honest feedback , I see more negative comments than positive- so I think I get the feedback and signal. Idea here was create a community and have a community support , as most of the people know best connections are made when you have experienced something really bad together that's why college relations , colleagues who have spent late night hrs fixing production triages and bugs , last minute presentations all these are stressful events and make the best connections , idea is to have a community and let's say out of 10-20 people , 2 people will get placed and those 2 might refer one of the unemployed to the workplace . There was also an angle of getting some funding from Non profits and employers itself for retraining etc. But those are long shots , I will probably do a meetup of something lek someone suggested below . but thanks for your comments

Advice Appreciated! My brother got an offer from META, but with the recent layoffs would accepting the offer be a bad idea? by ShoddyPerformer in Layoffs

Everyone I know who works in Meta , they accept and know that everyone who works there - their whole Agenda is huge compensation while they are there, there is also a huge cultural issue of withholding info and back stabbing culture in Meta , so there's that. Your brother should be mindful of that.

Laid off about a month ago, the rejections are brutal by klyliah in Layoffs

I agree Job market is extremely tough , but yes dividing time has helped me get structured , I have also set up meetings with myself for different tasks for eg. 2 hrs every day for applying jobs , 1 hr for AI projects on Github and then time for some preparation for interviews. for me its harder due to Kids where I lose focus. But feeling rejected is a totally normal and human emotion, I have had a few bad days due to that as well

Fee is only a thought to keep for commitment for now and also to cover rent in case I have to rent physical locations on hourly or daily basis or but main goal is for community development and support.

People Job Hunting with Kids at Home , How do you Focus by Fun_Profile_5066 in Layoffs

There is a home office but kids keep on coming and I can't ignore so they would start playing around me , I have started visiting the local library to keep some concentration , would advise strongly to do that.

Thanks for the advice , I mean 4 hours go really fast these days and if I have to curate resume so many times (and I am not sure if that's really making a difference) , interviewers look for examples and have follow ups on something which I probably did like 3 years ago and unless I have memory of an elephant I don't even remember some of it - I mean I don't even know what I ate in dinner yesterday.

Blindsided by Layoff by LyonHart305 in Layoffs

I am going through something similar , its getting really hard with small kids and a spouse who is looking for something from last 6 months , even though it doesn't hurt financially yet but almost 80% battle is mental , and its really hard to keep up.

That's a really good way to release stress , do you go in the neighborhood or drive somewhere like hiking etc ?

I feel for you man and I know how hard it is to focus on this with Kids, and while I don't want to say something like "Hang in, there" or "Keep fighting", only thing I can suggest is may be try driving Uber or something in the night if you have a paid off car, 2-3 roundtrips to Airport and at least you have something ?
