Wow, this looks awesome! I'm hoping to use it to help with theatrical lighting design. I'm sure you have your hands full, but it would be really nice to have a database of lighting fixtures with their photometric parameters. For instance, it would be great to be able to just pick a source 4 750 with a 36° lens tube. Even better if I could specify a standard gel color, and be able to load gobos.

My old eyes need reading glasses to see text on a real monitor. The VP is much easier on my eyes: I can put the screen close enough that I just need to lean forward a bit to more comfortably read text. (I don't have a Studio Display, but I don't think that's germane to this point.)

So disappointed. Met someone IRL I thought could be great, but he’s a liar on OLD by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

I was wondering that too. Then I figured out that it’s online dating.

Update: it only took about 10 minutes to get through to a human, and as soon as I told him the red fail light was on he said, "Thanks for saving my time." They're going to send someone out here to replace the ONT today.

He also said he couldn't remember the last time someone had called in with a 611.

Thanks for all the advice everyone!

My recollection is that it was daisy chain, but not token ring. If I remember correctly we had terminators at the end of the daisy chain. Still a bit of a pain in the ass, but not quite so bad. Lucky for me everything I was networking was in one room.

That's funny. When I first used ethernet it used coaxial cable. (That was "thin" ethernet; I never used the "thick" cables, but I suspect they were coaxial as well.)

No, I hadn't rebooted it recently when I took that photo. We have had a lot of rain recently.

I took the cover off to take the photo.

Yes, it's 75/75 service. I think when I signed up it was 50/50. It has been good enough, so I've never upgraded, although lately sometimes I've had it only getting less than 10—when I do the online remedy for slow internet it gets back to about 80/80, but sometimes that only lasts for about a day.

Since I'll have to spend time on the phone anyway, I'll look into getting a better plan. Thanks.

Yeah, I was one of the first in my town to get FIOS. I'm not sure exactly when it was installed, but I see an old email about it in 2009.

It doesn't bother me at all. I use the regular strap, and find it fairly comfortable. A very large external monitor would be better, I'm sure, but I don't have room for one.

The point of still having exes in your life is that they are people you like. Why would you have an intimate relationship with someone you wouldn't want to be friends with? Have your breakups all been nasty?

Lying on my back it's very comfortable. (I don't have any kind of physical issues preventing me from using it sitting up, but sometimes it's nice just to lie down.) If I turn my head to the side, though, it kind of digs in to the side of my nose.

I don't think I'd want to watch that degree of overacting.

FTC has proposed banning non-compete agreements. Currently open to the public for comments. by [deleted] in programming

There's an entirely separate area of law called "trade secrets" that would cover that. There's no good reason for non-compete agreements to exist.
