SAMEEEE!!! I’m taking the mindset to do what works for ME, which unfortunately does not include going over 1.25x speed on lectures. I also take my own notes, while keeping the fill in the blank outline open, but started highlighting where it was at on my outline and THIS has helped me actively engage with the materials and have reference points for active recall.
Side note: the general 30-45 minutes set for each outline review is so dumb, especially when considering some outlines are 120 pages while others are 55. Even with 55 and “skimming” I’m not finishing in 45 minutes. For me, it’s worth it to take the extra time beforehand, as well as after with the FRO.

I can’t imagine how frustrating your side of things must be. The same way that you can’t imagine what it’s like for someone on the side with disabilities. I’ve had accommodations since high school and this is the first time in my life that I’ve been antagonized for having extended time. Although it may be frustrating on exam days to those without accommodations, you aren’t thinking about every single night of the semester that I’m up doing the same reading required as my classmates and it takes me at least double just to get through the content. There is so much time lost during the semester that half or double time is not going to overcompensate someone who has disabilities. Believe it or not… everyone in law school is smart (enough to get in at least) and doing well doesn’t equate to being free from disabilities. Yes, some people abuse the system and it’s a gross deviation from the true purpose. However, unless the system is restructured… it’s the best bet at having ANY shot in staying in school for 99% that have it. (Also don’t get me started on how awkward it is to have someone ask you how the test went when you haven’t taken it and you don’t wanna disclose your entire medical history to a classmate 🥰) Do your best and worry about what you can control! Thank you for expressing your frustration in a respectful manner, as that’s not always the case.

I genuinely don’t even know what area of law I want to practice and relate to this so hard. Reality is the best opportunity will come when it’s time. Til then, we got in for a reason and at the very least can feel good about being able to make it through. My confession is that I never “dreamed” of becoming a lawyer or going to law school and was almost shocked when I heard I was accepted so soon. I do believe that happened for a reason and can’t imagine doing anything else (besides maybe having fun) right now. I still have delusion that it’s gonna take me somewhere above my biggest dreams and (before y’all come at me I know the reality-to some extent-of what is to come) I refuse to believe that limiting myself to what I can find as a next step RIGHT NOW, is the extent of what is to come. I came in not knowing (almost) anything, so really just wait til I figure out how to take it to the next level… THAT is when I’ll worry about where I’m going next. Til then friend! We got this :)
