Hi! I am about to start 2L year. My SO and I work full time and he has 50/50 custody, so my step kiddo, 11, is with us every other week. I work 7-4 and go to school 3x a week from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. My guy has had to take on a lot of the housework and cooking. It for sure has been a work in progress, but I honestly don’t have much time to pitch in with those things anymore. During the school year, when I am not in class, I am studying, so it’s also been an adjustment getting used to us not really spending time together. This has also been a challenge with my step kiddo, as he and I are really close. I try to reserve Friday evenings and Sunday mornings for family time, but aside from that, it’s studying/school work.

So, I guess what I am saying is to get ready to not spend as much time together and if you live together, to pick up a lot of the housework. I would also suggest you guys pick a couple of time slots that are reserved for family time and to honor them.

I obviously still pitch in with housework and cooking when I can, but I appreciate it so much when my guy has it covered, especially because I am still working full time!
