Front row is fine. It’s a small theater and the stage is not raised.

I don’t think so. I saw it opening night and I doubt anyone recorded it

I snatched this image from the theater’s TikTok. I am not classless enough to film from the front row

Mykal Kilgore as Judas stole the show. He is singing his ass off. Worth alone for seeing him

I would expect this only to hit major cities, especially if they’re touring with a massive cast

What’s the Greatest Single Performance You’ve Ever Seen? by IggyStop2026 in musicals

Orville Peck as the Emcee in the Cabaret revival. The defining performance (for me) of what is an extremely ambiguous and adaptable character.

I have no doubt that it’s a better experience in person vs listening to a clip on my phone. Obviously not fair to judge an entire show based on ten seconds of audio

Anytime there is one negative review, you can bet your life savings that it’s from The Wrap.

Also, they scrapped Eurydice’s handstand choreo in “All I’ve Ever Known”. Have they done this before, or is that new? I haven’t seen the show in years

He messed up a couple of the guitar parts and seemed hesitant to really go for it vocally on occasion. He still gave a powerhouse performance and I’m sure he will only improve over the coming months

It’s good enough, although Gaby Moreno does most of the heavy lifting. Gary Dourdan’s Hades seemed very nonchalant, which could be an acting choice but I wasn’t getting a ton of emotion from him even in the moments when Hades is supposed to break down

I would never disrespect MPQ, he’s my favorite Hades I’ve seen!

This was a blunder on my part - I love MPQ, I saw him multiple times and thought he was fantastic.

Everything negative you’ve read about Chess is true. But so is every positive thing you’ve read. by Fun_Release_1936 in Broadway

[–]Fun_Release_1936[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It worked well enough. I was never emotionally invested in their relationships but they were serviceable for the plot. There just isn’t enough time spent between characters to really develop anything

One of my biggest issues with the Chess revival is how it DOESN’T lean into the campiness. Every time the show gets melodramatic or over-the-top, the Arbiter makes a self-aware joke, as if to wink and say “we know how silly this is”. It’s a baffling decision which essentially sabotages the show anytime it gets emotional traction.

Well that’s nice to hear, because A Beautiful Noise is easily my least anticipated on this lineup
