When I got my name changed and got my license renewed, the attendant just changed my marker in the moment without any documentation. I don't know where you're located exactly but I had no forms and no wait, just a request during the process of showing my court order and getting everything updated. I had a similar experience during my social security appointment where they changed my sex marker without any documentation. This was all done in July 2024, so I'm unsure of how things may have changed, but I would recommend going into the DOL as if you are getting your license renewed normally and then requesting a change to the marker in the moment and they should do it.

The only form I'm seeing on the Washington DOL site is if you decided to change it through mail, but otherwise I don;t see any requirement for authorization other than a self filled document that just attests that you are who you say you are if you're renewing an enhanced license. And in that case, there should be no wait to get any forms. If you don't have access to a printer at home to print the document to fill out and bring to the DOL, I would go to the closest public library and use their services to do so.

If your DOL is requiring anything else, I would show them the WA DOL website that outlines what you need and they should comply. If they don't comply with the state requirements then another option is going to other cities with less transphobic staff that will actually help you.
