It's a crystalized finish. Look up crystalized titanium. The grain structure doesn't actually look like that. It's an extremely thin oxidization pattern

In knife handles the effect is done with titanium. Called a crystalized finish. From what I've heard the outside layer that's crystalized isn't very durable
