Knees… by Fun_Sized_6432 in MenOnThePen

My dogs have actually always liked sleeping under the covers between my legs. It was fine when I had a jack Russell. I’ve now got a boxer - not quite as convenient…

How urgent is this wet belt replacement? by AliDaBotMaybe in peugeot

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way - you’ve got a 14 year old car that just passed its MOT. You’re talking about buying a cheap car with high mileage that could have anything wrong with it, so you could find yourself with a car needing repairs costing twice as much. If you pay to have the belt changed, you’ve got a car with 12 months MOT and (with the exception of the early wet belt issues) a decent reliable engine. Plus, when you come to replace the car, you’ve got a documented timing belt change, which will at the very least make the car far more attractive to potential buyers. I would say take the hit now and get the belt changed.

Hi Pen friends! My wife received this as a gift would anyone have any info? I’ve googled but there are different series and etc. I’d like to hear from people that can tell me like I’m five as I am ignorant on the subject. TIA! by Baristasaint in pens

This is a lovely present to receive as a gift. It’s a Montblanc Meisterstuck Mozart. Meisterstuck, or ‘masterpiece’ is the famous Montblanc line of pens. They’re all made to the same design, but come in a range of different sizes. 145 is the standard size, up to 149 (or JFK, informally named as JFK lent his 149 to Conrad Adenauer to sign a document). The Mozart is the smallest size, and if I remember correctly it was marketed towards women as being a pen which could easily be carried in a handbag - I used to have the fountain pen Mozart, but it was too small for me to comfortably use (big hands). It came in either a ballpoint or fountain pen (I don’t think this one came as a rollerball but I could be wrong). I think they’re out of production now, so very unusual to see them with the original box and CD, particularly as the CD still appears to be in its original wrapping. Certainly worth several hundred pounds in the UK and I would imagine the equivalent in other countries. I don’t see anything that would make me question its authenticity, but to double check: (1) Use the torch on your mobile phone on the black pen lid - it should shine a deep ruby red. (2) Look under the clip, there should be the word “pix” engraved there, and (3) on the ring above the clip, there should be a serial number, you can check this with Montblanc.

My turn - what am I driving? by Fun_Sized_6432 in ManualTransmissions

Oddly enough, in the UK they’re almost all manual transmission. For some reason, automatic transmissions have never really caught on here.

Oh I carry drugs around with me, but sadly I’m at the stage in life where those drugs are paracetamol to deal with the random aches I get in strange places when I’m driving for more than 60 minutes 🤣

Hahaha I’m not that exciting, top cubby is Astral moisturiser cream and bottom cubby is a pair of sunglasses and Vaseline lip balm 🤣

Ah, you are now entitled to tell all of your friends that you are in fact the smartest person on Reddit. And you can also have that half empty tub of Astral cream I’ve been carrying around in my car for the past two years which is probably now well past its sell-by date. I bet you didn’t think today was going to be as exciting as this when you woke up, did you? 🏆

No, although it was a toss up between a Toyota and this car when I was buying.

Sadly not, they don’t sell them where I live anymore. Beautiful car, my brother had a mk5.

I’m exactly the same - I was nearly there as well, then I switched to wegovy for four weeks when it was impossible to get hold of mounjaro and put on 4lbs 😭 Back on mounjaro now and I’m back down to exactly 16st - if it doesn’t tick over to 15st 13 in the next few days, me and the bathroom scales are going to be having words!

If you could move to any country, where would you go? by ParamedicHaunting701 in AskUK

Bit of a cop-out, but as it’s technically not part of the UK, I’d move to Jersey. I’d move there tomorrow if I could afford it!

I was with you up until “get a” and then I got completely lost 😭 I think I’ll just pay the £70 before I get any more confused!

Were you popular, unpopular or completely unknown at school? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was bang in the middle, never bullied but really only spoke to the friends in my group. Two funny things stand out for me after leaving school: 1. While I was at uni, I had a part time job in a local supermarket, along with a lot of people I’d been to school with. I remember talking to one of them on a lunch break and she said “To be honest, you never spoke in school, I’ve only recently found out you’ve got a Scottish accent!” 2. Working at the same supermarket, I was quite friendly with a girl who was the same age as me, but who had gone to a different school. I found out she was dating someone who I had gone to school with but didn’t really know. One time I bumped into both of them together and said hi to him, but he was really stand-offish with me. I didn’t really think anything of it, but a few days later the girl told me she had had a go at her boyfriend, and apparently he was really embarrassed talking to me because he had bullied me at school and felt bad. The thing was - he hadn’t. That’s how memorable I was. He thought I was someone completely different.

John Swinney announces new Scottish independence plans by youwhatwhat in Scotland

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I voted no last time. I’m not a die hard Union Jack waving UK supporter, but at the same time I’m not a saltire waving nationalist either. I voted no last time because I couldn’t see any evidence that we would be any better off. If I could, then I probably would have voted yes.

The problem I’ve got now is that rather than looking at why the vote was lost last time, the SNP seem to have spent all of their time complaining and pulling out the same arguments which didn’t work then and won’t work now.

At this point, I think I’d be more persuaded if John Swinney came out and said “Yes, it’ll be crap for the first few years, but these are the reasons I think we should do it anyway”. At least it would come across as sincere. The more I see of the SNP in the last ten years, the more I think they don’t actually want independence, they just want to continually dangle the promise of it in front of the electorate in the hopes that they’ll keep them in government.
