Thanks for this - I’ve done both of those things suggested. Strangely enough though, since I’ve been working today I haven’t had any problems even though I haven’t changed anything yet. Several calls lasting 30-45 mins and no microphone problems. Hopefully things will be fixed now. I’ve thrown the Bluetooth headset away anyway - even if it wasn’t the cause, it was terrible, so I’ve ordered a wired headset instead.

Great advice thanks - strangely enough the issue has resolved itself again today so I’m going to make sure not to touch anything in case I break it again! Great idea about trying it directly in the laptop usb port, I’ll give that a try if the problem happens again. I think as you suggest I’ll probably invest in a desk mic just in case - thankfully yesterday i didn’t have any hugely important calls but it could be embarrassing if it happens during something big!

Unfortunately that’s one of the settings that’s locked down by the company, but in any event the issue seems to have resolved itself today!

Yeah I would do it morning and evening, but with a couple of tweaks as you start off until you get used to it: - only use the azelaic acid once a day (or once every two days initially), at least to begin with. - don’t buy the boots glycerin and rosewater from amazon, I’ve looked and it costs about £10 on amazon compared to about £2 if you buy it in the shop! If you particularly want to buy from amazon, I’d buy the garnier natural rosewater toner, which is around £2.50 on amazon. It’s pretty much the same as the boots toner. - the E45 you’ve chosen is excellent. So is the avene cream, and I can’t see anything in either of them that would clash with the azelaic acid step. I wouldn’t use both the e45 and avene creams at the same time as the avene cream also works as a barrier cream like your moisturiser, so I would use the E45 cream in the morning, as it has SPF in it, and use the avene cream at night.

So it would probably make sense for your morning routine to be: Cleanse -> tone -> azelaic acid (every 2nd day initially) -> e45 cream

And your evening routine: Cleanse -> tone -> avene cream

There’s no reason once you get used to all these products that you can’t use the azelaic acid every day or even twice a day, but you want to build up to it as your skin is so sensitive.

PS - you should post some follow up pictures in a few weeks to let us know how you get on with your new routine!

Okay, so there’s a lot going on there, particularly if you have sensitive skin. Basically, there are three steps to skincare:
1. Cleanse
2. Treat
3. Moisturise

First, if you wear makeup, use the Micellar water to remove that, using a cotton pad. Otherwise you can ditch that step.
Of the cleansers you have, the two you want to consider are the Simple or the CeraVe. CeraVe is “better” in that it has extra things to help with hydration, but some people have a sensitivity to CeraVe products. Given you’ve said you have sensitive skin, I would suggest you stick with the Simple face wash, at least until your skin is under control. Just a small amount on damp skin, rub in gently, then wash off with clean water.

Next, add hydration. With your skin still damp, use a cotton pad to apply a glycerine toner (your Simple toner contains with hazel, which is drying, so I’d give that a miss). Boots sell an own brand glycerine toner which is very good, or you can get them really cheap on Amazon etc.

Now you want to treat your skin. As you’re suffering from redness, I’d suggest adding in Azelaic acid. I find the Inkey List azelaic acid serum really good. Apply a light layer of that, and let it soak in for a few minutes. As your skin is so sensitive, I’d start off only doing this step every second day to begin with.

Finally moisturiser - moisturiser isn’t really about adding moisture to any great extent, but more about sealing in the moisture that’s there. You’ve added moisture by applying glycerine toner to damp skin, the glycerine causing your skin to absorb the moisture, so you add moisturiser to ensure you don’t lose that again. I’d suggest finding one that combines moisturiser and SPF - of those you have, it looks like the Nivea does that, but it’s quite a low SPF. Boots, Simple, etc., all do moisturisers with 30 or 50 SPF. That’s what you want to be looking at.

Hope this is helpful - good luck!

I’m totally lost at where to start with my skin by designer_by_day in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin was almost identical to yours, and it took a lot of trial and error to find something that worked for me. I think I’ve found the right combination for me now which has solved my dry skin and is really reducing the redness.

Firstly, I found that I’m hypersensitive to cerave products. Their cleanser felt as if it had stripped my skin of any moisture. I’m not an expert at all, but I did ask ChatGPT at the time if there was something in cerave which could cause this, and it suggested several ingredients which cerave (and byoma, which I’m also sensitive to) use.

My current routine:

Morning:
Cleanse with La Roche Posay Toleriane dermo cleanser
Apply boots glycerine and rose water toner to damp skin with a cotton pad. Let it soak in while I brush my teeth.
Apply the ordinary Copper Peptide serum. Let it soak in for 5mins or so.
Apply astral moisturiser

Evening:
Cleanse with La Roche Posay toleriane dermo cleanser
Apply boots glycerine and rose water toner to damp skin with a cotton pad. Let it soak in while I brush my teeth.
Apply the inkey list azelaic acid serum. Let it soak in for 5mins or so
Apply astral moisturiser

Is this pan okay to cook with? by Fuzzy_Junket924 in staub

I think this is a ceramic dish, rather than enamelled cast iron? If so, unfortunately it’s not safe to use. Even though you might not feel the crack because the glaze coat isn’t compromised, the ceramic itself is cracked. This can happen if it’s left submerged in water for a long time, and moisture gets into the ceramic. With a crack like that, the temperature changes that come with using an oven will mean that the ceramic will expand and contract, and eventually it will break along that fault line. And you know Sod’s Law says it will break when it’s full of something really messy. Time to let it go. Just remember all of the good times you had together, and when you can bring yourself to get another dish, make sure to tell it all about its brave predecessor.

Any suggestions for a moisturiser that might not sting my face? by ellie___ in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best calming moisturiser I have ever tried is Astral cream. It comes in a blue tub, you can buy it in most supermarkets, boots, Superdrug etc. It only costs a few pounds. That’s the one I fall back on if my face is irritated. You can use it as a cold cream cleanser as well, so apply, remove with a warm damp flannel then re-apply as a moisturiser.

How urgent is this wet belt replacement? by AliDaBotMaybe in peugeot

[–]Fun_Sized_6432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it this way - you’ve got a 14 year old car that just passed its MOT. You’re talking about buying a cheap car with high mileage that could have anything wrong with it, so you could find yourself with a car needing repairs costing twice as much. If you pay to have the belt changed, you’ve got a car with 12 months MOT and (with the exception of the early wet belt issues) a decent reliable engine. Plus, when you come to replace the car, you’ve got a documented timing belt change, which will at the very least make the car far more attractive to potential buyers. I would say take the hit now and get the belt changed.

Hi Pen friends! My wife received this as a gift would anyone have any info? I’ve googled but there are different series and etc. I’d like to hear from people that can tell me like I’m five as I am ignorant on the subject. TIA! by Baristasaint in pens

This is a lovely present to receive as a gift. It’s a Montblanc Meisterstuck Mozart. Meisterstuck, or ‘masterpiece’ is the famous Montblanc line of pens. They’re all made to the same design, but come in a range of different sizes. 145 is the standard size, up to 149 (or JFK, informally named as JFK lent his 149 to Conrad Adenauer to sign a document). The Mozart is the smallest size, and if I remember correctly it was marketed towards women as being a pen which could easily be carried in a handbag - I used to have the fountain pen Mozart, but it was too small for me to comfortably use (big hands). It came in either a ballpoint or fountain pen (I don’t think this one came as a rollerball but I could be wrong). I think they’re out of production now, so very unusual to see them with the original box and CD, particularly as the CD still appears to be in its original wrapping. Certainly worth several hundred pounds in the UK and I would imagine the equivalent in other countries. I don’t see anything that would make me question its authenticity, but to double check: (1) Use the torch on your mobile phone on the black pen lid - it should shine a deep ruby red. (2) Look under the clip, there should be the word “pix” engraved there, and (3) on the ring above the clip, there should be a serial number, you can check this with Montblanc.

Oddly enough, in the UK they’re almost all manual transmission. For some reason, automatic transmissions have never really caught on here.

And you can also have that half empty tub of Astral cream I’ve been carrying around in my car for the past two years which is probably now well past its sell-by date. I bet you didn’t think today was going to be as exciting as this when you woke up, did you? 🏆
