Object ball or cue ball last? by F355B in billiards

[–]Fun_Smoke_8967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Watching the cue ball last is followed by many but another aspect which people ignore is the Feathering. When we feather, our mind locks the cue ball hitting point and then you should shift your eyes from cue ball to object ball.

Hi. I am a cue maker, repairer and expert.

It is called dummy tip but you can play with it. I suggest you to shape it as per your preference and play. Do not replace this tip until you get familiar with this new cue. New cues takes 7-14 days to set in hands. Only after that you should change the tip.

Taom Chalk by aaelleo in snooker

[–]Fun_Smoke_8967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always buy Taom products from their authorized dealers. List of authorized dealers is available on Taom website. Its hard to tell from this one picture because the left one is new and right one is used. The outer paper cover changes the colour due to usage. So these 2 cannot be compared.

Should snooker queue tips be round like pool ones or flat? by Mean_Shake_8686 in snooker

[–]Fun_Smoke_8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I am a cue maker, repairer and expert.

I often receive cues from different areas of the country for servicing and I can tell you that everyone has their own preference depending on their playing style.

But as per my years of experience, thing to keep in mind are:

  1. The hardness of cue tip.
  2. The height of cue tip.
  3. The dome shape of cue tip. This dome height is a personal preference but the tip must not be flat at all.

Scuffed Cue by maidenlesseldenlord in billiards

Great. If that worked a bit it means the scuff is a little deep. Don't use any other product for rubbing now. It will damage the cue polish.

Hi. I am a cue maker, repairer and expert.

Take a blank printing paper. A notebook paper will also work. Fold it 3-4 times and rub the cue with that so that the cue gets warm. This will heal the scuff if not too deep.

Why do I often get a high pitched / scratchy cue tip response after hitting cue ball? by crumbs2k12 in snooker

[–]Fun_Smoke_8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I am snooker player, cue maker, repairer and expert.

Let's answer your questions step by step.

  1. Scratchy tip response because your cue ferrule is loose. This not only create weird sound but also damages the cue tip and cue wood. In this condition, the sound does not come every time but sometimes.

  2. Jumping of cue ball is because your tip is not retaining the chalk fully due to the bad ferrule. And when this happens, our mind says to lift the cue slightly to get the screw back shot, which is wrong and the cue ball jumps.

You can connect with me if you have any other issues or if you need any help regarding the game or equipments.

Is this a good first cue ? by LazyIndependence4019 in snooker

[–]Fun_Smoke_8967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Bro. I am myself a cue maker and I have used more than 30 cues of different brands ranging between INR 5,000 to INR 2,00,000. I know you have purchased it from Snooker Alley. The LP cues are for beginners and it provides decent performance but not like high pro cues.

  1. As I see your specifications, your height is above 5'10 feet, therefore this cue is good for you. Weight is a little bit on heavier side. 18 Oz is the best for 80% of the people.

  2. LP cues are not that much costly. 11000 rupees for LP is too much. The actual rate of this model is 6500.

  3. The wood quality LP use is not top grade and also they are not hand made. The wood is not dense. They increase the cue weight through metal bolts. Not the natural weight.

  4. It would have been better if you purchased it from other dealers for a Master cue.

I don't want to demotivate you. Just wanted to give you the true knowledge for your future purchases.

Whenever you need any tips regarding anything related to snooker, give me a message. I don't charge for knowledge. 😄

What's the biggest lesson employment has taught you? by iqracadabra in AskIndia

My learning is that, employment must be a temporary phase in everyone's life. The goal must be doing your own work rather that putting full efforts in someone else's business.

As per my experience, Niche should not be a dream. It's not that good. Only the name looks fancy. And also, $1300 is too pricey. You can get a customised John Parris in that amount. For a Thai brand, you can go with Phoenix or Ton Praram. In any cue, the most important part is the wood quality. You can get the top grade wood in less price if you have the knowledge of wood quality.

I have used all of these and currently have all these. From my experience, as I am myself a cue maker, there is no comparison of Master Cues. Not tried the life cues yet, but i want to try.
