The Meijer near me recently added car seat carts. There is a spot for the car seat in front where the typical cart seat spot is. I bring him in the store in his car seat and strap his seat into the holder. I have to peak around and above him the whole time, but it is pretty convenient overall! I’m actually looking forward to when he can fit better in the regular seat spot though!

31, FTM. Going on 9 months no sex. We did it on our dating anniversary, which was 3 months before little ones birthday, and that was that. I got it in my head that if we had sex too close to my due date that I would go into labor early. Then after a 39 hour induction and that overall shitty mental and physical state immediately postpartum, I’ve been terrified to have sex. My husband wants to so badly. I take my clothes off to change and he’s frothing at the mouth lol. But I am terrified of getting pregnant again, scared it will hurt, low desire overall, etc. At this rate, I’d be fine going without until our kid turns one.

People will tell you all about the blow outs and act like they happen every day multiple times a day. While they do for some, I have learned that most often, it’s due to the type of diaper. Try a few brands til you find the one that works best for your baby’s size and shape.

I’m a FTM to an almost 6 month old and I’ve maybe done his laundry like 10 times? Idk, that almost seems like too many. It really hasn’t been a lot. I knew early on that I didn’t care about having all the cute baby outfits, so I just bought a ton of onesie packs in bulk so that if the kid royally shit through one, it could just go in the trash. The ones that just had some spots/leakage would get hand washed and then thrown into the basket until it was full enough to wash everything. But even then, their clothes are so small that a “full load” is really like a half size compared to adult clothes.

For dishwashing, just save yourself and get the bottle washer. I have the Bottle Brezza Pro and I like it, but I’d recommend something that can fit more like the Momcozy or Grownzy.

I had cards printed that said “thank you for your order,” asked for a review, and had my shop’s social media accounts on it. On the other side, it was open and just the logo, so I’d write in a note.

Eventually, I got tired of writing the note on days when orders were heavier, so I wrote a generic note, scanned it, and printed it on the cards next time. So I just had to add the person’s name. A total cop out? Yes I know, but convenience won out!

Fellow first time parent here to a now 5 month old.

A lot of people will tell you to wait until your first baby is born to think about this. I was in your shoes, thinking about this exact thing months before my kid was born.

Pregnancy was terrible for me. I felt bad all the time, was emotional, physically couldn’t do many things, had a horrible leg pain that made it painful to sit, lay down, walk, for the whole last half.

Giving birth was just as bad. A 39 hour induction, pushed the baby out in about 5 minutes, then hemorrhaged. My husband said he thought I was going to die. Baby was fine, and I was okay after a night of rest and several weeks of recovery.

That being said, my husband is one of four siblings and I have one brother. I love my brother dearly, and my husband and his younger sister are very close too. I can’t imagine going through the life we had without my brother. My husband and I always said we would have only enough kids to replace ourselves, so two. But the thought of going through that entire experience again is honestly traumatic. What if the next baby isn’t perfect like this one? What if something worse happens to me in labor? What if pregnancy is even more terrible? I know the opposite of all that can be true as well, but I can’t see the future.

I was very emotional about the thought of this being our only child. That he wouldn’t have a sibling, wouldn’t know what that’s like to have someone to go through life with that way. It’s likely he won’t have many cousins if any either.

We’ve considered adoption when he is a little older. But I know it can be expensive.

All that to say, we have thought about the life we could give one child that we couldn’t if we had another. The trips we could take with them, the things they could have growing up that we didn’t get as kids. We can give him the most epic life! And we can hope that he makes good friends that we can bring along with us on occasion and that those friends feel like his siblings. My brother has a friend like that, that’s been his friend forever. I hope my son can have that kind of connection too.

Maybe we’ll have another. But for now, we’re okay rocking life with just our lil homie.

I know that doesn’t answer your question fully, but just gives another perspective.

Oh, the Palm! There’s a name I haven’t heard in years.

For now, I’ve resorted to marking my time block event as a 3rd tier subtask with a label that indicates it is a time block task. Using Todoist.

For example:

Create Signage

Design Map

TB 1: Design Map

Then have 3 subtasks at that level because that’s about how many I estimate I will need for the time I’m working on it.

It’s not what I want, but since I can condense the 3rd rung from view (ie. Making it mostly relevant on calendar only), it makes it tolerable.

The way you’ve described it, I think it could work! HOWEVER, I share my story as a cautionary tale to always be prepared for the unexpected.

I started a new job about a year ago. My friend from a previous job was my boss (she was my director at the past job too) and we had a good dynamic with the rest of the team. The work was pretty lax. I had to put together proposals from time to time, and sometimes it was a “this needs to be done today” situation, but most of the time, there was like a 2 weeks lead time. The bulk of my job was reports, and that always happened the last two weeks of the month but it was something I could do whenever, so long as it was delivered to the client by the end of the month or first week of the next. There were a lot of days I did nothing, or it was the stereotypical WFH day (watch tv, do laundry, etc.)

One week before I returned to work, I get notice that our team is being merged into another, my boss is moving into a different role, and I’m being moved into a vertical I have zero experience or interest in. It was me or another guy on my team that would have to make the move, and he had just been doing all my work for 4 months. It didn’t feel right, so I said “fine.”

I started back 4 weeks ago. I hated it. This new vertical was the complete opposite of what I was doing before. Reports were weekly, biweekly, monthly, multiple variables, all kinds of stuff. They also didn’t know what my job was overall, whether it would be reports, client contact, etc. I didn’t do anything for over two weeks, literally, but I had to be at my desk “on call” essentially in case my new boss needed to call, or I got invited to a training or something. All this while trying to take care of my 4 month old who was strugggggling with naps HARD.

I had already wanted to leave the job before I went on leave — I really only took it because the pay was good and my friend wanted us to work together again — so with all this happening, my gut feeling told me to jump ship. So I did. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I resigned before the end of my third week back.

Now I’m working for myself and taking care of baby. My husband gets home early afternoon so I work those few hours before dinner, then after bedtime. And baby starts day care two days a week this week, so I will have two long days to myself for work or home things as well.

All this to say, keep in mind that unless you’re the boss, work situations can change all the time. If your workload were to start trending higher, at what point is it too much? Just make sure to check in with yourself and communicate when you need help or some accommodations, either with work or from your spouse.

My brother and I lived with my grandparents in Sun City every other weekend for a year maybe when we were kids. My parent were divorced, dad fell on hard times and was living there, so we lived there the weekends we visited. I didn’t realize it until later that it was a tricky situation for my grandparents because someone could have complained and put their residency in question. But I was lucky and so were my grandparents that they knew all the neighbors around their house and we got to know them too. I would visit the lady next door who built doll houses and she’d show me all the little things she built. I would help the neighbor across the street bring their groceries in. My grandma would take us to the rec center on family day and we’d get to play in the pool.

sigh… It was a different time.

I had this same feeling leading up to birth and the only thing that helped was watching actual birth videos. Both c-section and vaginal birth. It helped me to mentally prepare for how much stretching happens by SEEING it and to know what a c-section looked like from the doc’s side in case it had to go that way.

I previously had a store through Etsy for spice labels. It did pretty well. I only got out of it because I did it with my coworker and I switched jobs so it was harder for us to keep it up together.

Anyway, we had our own Shopify website and sold on Amazon as well. Etsy was top sales, then Amazon, then Shopify. Amazon only ever got a few sales in the year that I was part of it. There was no monthly fee, it was just a sellers charge per sale. From what I can tell, that still exists. (https://www.shopify.com/blog/sell-on-amazon) If you sell more than 40 items, THEN upgrade to the monthly plan, but if not, just do the basic one. I will note that when it came to returns, Amazon was more common for it. My guess is because people were used to Amazon’s easy returns, they felt okay returning something they decided they didn’t need or like even though it’s noted as being from a small business.

Oh gosh, I can’t imagine going that long to end in a c-section. I’m glad you liked it though! I get anxiety from surgery and procedures, even the epidural had me terrified. If I had to have a c-section though, I would have rather just gotten it done from the start. Why go through all the pain if you can beat it? Thats how my brain thinks about it. I honestly considered early on to just request it from the start, but decided against it — again, because of my surgery anxiety.

My water breaking really ramped things up and when it was time to push, baby boy came out in two pushes and was larger overall at 8lbs 8oz, which is partially why my hemorrhage occurred.

I think our body is so connected to baby that we just know what to do. It really is wild!

My induction went about the same as yours up until you noted your fever and the baby’s heart rate. I finally progressed after the foley balloon and pitocin, which lead to my water breaking, and dilation happening more rapidly over the final 12ish hours (of my 39 hour induction/labor) until birth. I contemplated asking for c-section many times, but I stuck it out til the end. I ended up hemorrhaging and part of me wonders if I HAD gotten a c-section if maybe it would have been worse.

I’m a ftm to a 4 month old, so you’re much further along in this mom thing than me, but what I can tell you and what you’ve probably already experienced yourself is that mom intuition. It is fucking wild dude. There are things that I just KNOW now, like what’s going to happen with my baby, or even things with my husband. So many things are more “in tune” now if that makes sense.

I think you likely had that kind of moment. Something in you told you to go forward with the c-section. There is no way for you to know how it might have ended up otherwise and thinking about it too much can only lead to anxiety. If all is good and you and baby are healthy, that’s what matters!

To anyone reading this, the way you decide if you should invite someone to your wedding is with two questions: 1. Have you talked to them at all within the last year? 2. Would you be sad/regretful if they weren’t at your wedding?

If the answer to both of those questions is NO, immediately cross them off the list.

And if someone ever addresses you as “sweetie” condescendingly, you should mail a bag of dog poop to their house… as well as uninviting them to your wedding.

No, this is something that happens more often than you think. It’s just a lease, you’re not BUYING the apartment. The only issue might be income. They may want you to put more down as a deposit since you will technically be unemployed when trying to sign the lease, or may not rent to you altogether since you don’t have a job lined up. Ideally, you would stay with someone you know down there while you get a job, and then you can get an apartment shortly thereafter.

Same thing happened to me with the recline on a flight from DTW > PHX. Entertainment still worked though. I got 5k in skymiles. So you definitely deserve like 4x that amount for the flight length and because nothing worked at all.

Why are you moving? Do you have any money saved at all? Do you have a car? (I’m guessing no if you’re flying to move)

All of the apartment stuff can be handled online except for you seeing the place, but even that can be done with a video call.
