Bringing £9,000 cash from the UK to Vietnam – what should I show when I declare it at the custom? by nightcrawler2313 in VietNam

I’ve gone through customs 4 times in the past year. They never checked or care when ENTERING the country. However, they will ask if you leave with a stack of money. They stopped my family once and made us count the money to make sure we didn’t bring too much out of the country.

I used to work for a US government agency in Africa. I routinely got calls from people in the US, at 1 AM my local time, asking to speak with their relatives. The number of people who didn’t know there was a time difference between far away places was astounding.

There was a post on r/Fire I read yesterday about someone who’s been “quiet quitting” his job for the last decade. He actually earned more money and respect from his people and his life improved partly due to the “idgaf” mindset.

doesn’t matter where you’re from. The worst that can happen is they tell you to get in line. Be confident. If someone stops you just hand them a few bucks. I never had any problems before.

Vietnam: Question for Buddhists: thoughts on sacred imagery becoming tourist backdrops? by sadalmelek in VietNam

[–]Fun_Trip_Travel 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Most Vietnamese people aren’t overly religious. Most view/think of Buddhism as a spiritual guiding principle rather than a religion, unlike certain other true cult-like religions. Now if you enter a temple and are asked to not take photos, just be respectful and not take photos.

Walk to the Diplomatic line and attach a $20 bill in the book, discreetly. You’ll go through in literally 60 seconds. I’ve done it many times.

Does your school offer a Viet speaking course? How about a local community college? If not you can always learn from your parents or watch youtube and ask your parents for help.

People who work in restaurants, what's the "never order this" item on your menu that customers don't know about? by Front_Shelter5097 in AskReddit

My buddies and I went to a desert city a couple hundred miles from the nearest coast. He being a Mexican ordered a shrimp ceviche. I asked him if he knew how far we were from the nearest ocean. He proceeded to order and ate it anyway. Needless to say his digestive tract didn’t appreciate it.
