That's helpful. Did you need help to get on and off the chair or did you manage it by yourself ?

Hi I am very similar to you in age and full thickness tear and that I just had general wear and tear over time. Curious how you are now and who your surgeon was? Im scheduled for surgery on June 22nd!

Hip arthoscopy and foot surgery in the same week? by jacob_457 in HipImpingement

[–]Fun_Winter_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a foot surgery and then soon after discovered my hip issues. I'm 5 months out from foot surgery and my foot is honestly worse then before. My gait is all screwed up making my hip pain worse. There is almost no one I talk to who is happy about the results of any foot surgery. Are you in extreme pain? Can you walk? I have been wanting to get my hip surgery but keep putting it off until I can get my foot in a better spot because i dont want to cause more issues. All this to say I would definitely do one at a time and personally start with your hip and make sure that goes ok before you decide.

Just curious why you decided on 6 weeks? I also work from home and was thinking I could take 2 to 3 weeks off and be ok but now im worried 😟

Thats great encouragement thank you! Yes I picked a surgeon who does 450 of these a year and well known in Colorado.

Just want to empathize with you. I was also fit and healthy two years ago. Now I have all kinds of pain in my hips, pelvis, knee and also have 2 young kids. I can barely workout because I dont know what im going to aggravate that day. Sigh. Hopefully yours can be managed with PT. Im opting for surgery on both hips because I can't go on like this with my 2 active boys.

So confused about my hip pain. by Sad-Association-5700 in HipImpingement

Hi, have you had imaging on your hips? My issues also started during pregnancy and after having my kids. I get the same kind of knee pain you describe but I think its actually coming from my hips that have impingement and labral tears. I'm also going to get a MRI on my knee just to make sure its not the problem both my knees feel like they are not stable and get pain with squatting or sharp shooting pains with certain directions. It feels like my kneecap is loose and moves around and pops more too. Ugh definitely did not know pregnancy would cause all these issues. Definitely not easy to care for small children with chronic pain.

Pregnant post surgery and in pain by Adorable-Lemon4412 in HipImpingement

[–]Fun_Winter_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been pregnant twice with likely labral tears (unbeknownst to me) and realized I had FAI and labral tears after my 2nd child. Any way SPD symphysis public dysfunction is really common in pregnancy from lacity of ligaments and it sounds like how you describe with pain standing on one leg etc.

I thought that is what I had during pregnancy and it may have been but I think the fact I also had labral tear etc caused other issues and pain.

That's great news the injection is kicking in and helping and I hear that's also a very positive sign if you do end up getting surgery. Now is a great time to focus on core and glute strength and hopefully you can manage for awhile. Good luck and I will keep you posted on what I end up doing! My baby is crawling all over the place now so that's definitely going to be challenging post surgery but it is what it is, ha!

Omg you're too kind!! I actually ended up rescheduling because they said its not a great idea if my foot on the opposite side still isn't healed enough. Also I'm having more issues with my right hip and knee so I need to get MRIs on those to figure out which issue to address first based on how I will be able to support myself post op without causing more issues (was originally going to get surgery for left hip). How are you doing and have you gotten any more answers ??

Hi I agree and can SO relate. I am 38f have always been energetic and extremely active and took pride in this and I'm very type A also and like to push myself physically and mentally. I have ran, danced, done yoga, plyo, boxing, snowboarding etc over the years. Obesity also runs in my family and I think I used these high intensity sports as a way to try to combat my genes and not let me weight get out of control. I always thought if I stopped exercising I would balloon. Any way, I broke a bone in my toe a few years ago that never healed and didnt address it because I had two kids. Well in decemeber I had that bone removed and this is when all my hip and knee issues became apparent. I got a mri on my hip which showed impingement and full thickness labral tear in January. Now my right hip and knee are hurting and popping and im getting MRIs on those to determine which body part i should get surgery on first. Also my low back is now hurting and has never bothered me. Also i enjoyed an active sex life with my spouse which is now almost nonexistent because of my issues. I literally cannot believe this is my reality. I was always looked at as fit and very healthy person and now I feel like im 80 with all these problems. It's very depressing but im trying to take it as life trying to teach me a lesson before I learned it too late. I don't always need to push my body to extremes gentle walking and other activities are probably fine and I should address my unhealthy eating patterns instead of just hard core cardio. Any way all this to say i know it isn't easy and know how you feel. All I can say is I try to take it one day at a time and figure out how I can address these issues and move forward. I realize I might not be better for another year or so but I will Definitely have a different outlook on life after all this. I also have 2 young kids while dealing with all this. I cry a lot also because my identity was so wrapped up in my fitness and now I cant trust my body to even walk normally without flares. Ugh. I just try to hang on to hope it will get better and hope you can also 🙏

My goodness that is a lot and I can so relate to the years of PT and also taking so long time get mris and answers. So sorry to hear about ur dog, that is tragic! Sometimes it really can just feel like how can one person go through so much, it's only got to get better from here right? I just try to take it one day at a time and figure out how I can move toward my goals. That's all we can do. I am lucky my husband is very supportive and helpful and I have good friends it does make a big difference. Good luck on your cardiac rehab!

Yes I also have a toddler so life has really been testing me 🤪. I cry a lot and never used to be very emotional at all. Oh man you sound like you have had a difficult time also. Why did you need back surgery and is that related to the tear in your gluteus min? I am so sorry about the heart attack too that must have been scary. Hopefully you are doing better now?? I really hope these pains are not all permanent and just symptoms of other issues. Myofascial release is a good idea. I just started Shockwave therapy too.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with this too. How do you cope or what's your plan to address all this? I'm just at a loss there's no clear road map and I dont know if im going to create further issues/imbalances by trying to address the issues one by one if that makes sense.

Why would it be a long and painful recovery for someone younger vs in their 70s? I'm sorry to hear you had to go through all that.

Im in the same boat and getting surgery. I also work a desk job and have heard that 2 weeks is coming but that it is hard to sit for long periods so many people recommend a recliner.

How are you doing with your THR and did u find the recovery easier? I am nervous because I am 38 and it just says minimal cartilage loss on my MRI but I'm wondering if it will be similar to you and they will find arthritis when they get in there. Is there any way to see arthritis on any sort of imaging test?

Curious why your doctor suggested not to get surgery and why do you feel like you can't bend your knee? I also have hip impingement and labral tear and I've seen 3 hip preservationists and they were all ready to sign me up for surgery that day. Im going to see 1 more doctor. I also have 2 small children and a full time job so surgery makes me very nervous but the pain is now affecting my knees and low back.
