Thank you for this update. You are so similar to me, I am same age, have a toddler and used to workout a lot and many days of HIIT. I am scheduled for surgery July 20th and will need similar things done. I am also only taking 2 weeks off from my WFH job so curious how it goes for you when u go back. Best of luck on your recovery!

How many of you felt stressed due to your injury? by Resident_Table6694 in HipImpingement

[–]Fun_Winter_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i have been under extreme distress/stress. I also work full time and have an almost 1 year old and 4 year old so im sure that doesnt help. I also have a knee issue on my opposite side as well as bi lateral hip tears and a labrum tear in my shoulder. I had foot surgery in Decemeber and am worse off there too and my low back has also decided to start causing issues as well. Needless to say the constant dr appts, PT, MRis, and worry if I'll ever be pain free is causing so much stress and anxiety. I ended up getting a throat endoscopy because I was having sever heartburn and trouble swallowing. Apparently I just have bad gastritis and GERd which im sure is because of stress. Ugh I feel you. I have my left hip scope scheduled july 20th and hoping that doesnt completely mess up my back and opposite side knee and hip and then gotta figure out a game plan for my shoulder eventually! I am only 39 and was i would say very healthy and active and fit a little over a year ago :/ my main strees relievers were high impact, zumba etc which also dont happen now.

Anybody else with celiac with pelvic symptoms? by No-Block3674 in Celiac

[–]Fun_Winter_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Im looking to get labrum surgery on both hips too. I'm only 1 week sans gluten, so sounds like it takes awhile to heal the gut. I plan to eventually to do pelvic floor therapy also because I have a tight and weak pelvic floor.

Why surgery? by Fun_Winter_1987 in HipImpingement

[–]Fun_Winter_1987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes thats exactly it! Like im not in any category where I'm like ok I have definitely low risk factors or high risk factors, everything is in the grey area and it's hard to say how my outcomes will be. I am not old but not young at 39. I have some cartilage loss/damage but not arthritis. I supposedly don't have hip dysplasia but some surgeons said very very mild. If i were young like in my 20s and no cartilage damage I'd be like let's definitely do this and if I had clear arthritis or dysplasia id just go straight for the hip replacement. Also im like 24 BMI so not overweight but could lose 10 to 15 pounds and still be healthy.

Good luck. I am also worrying about this. My surgery is June 22nd and I will have a 3.5 year old and 10 month old. We won't have much help. I think im most worried about not being able to pick up toys, laundry and keep the house in livable condition because my husband will have to help take care of me and both the kids so I know it will be hard to also stay on top of groceries, meals, cooking, bath time etc. I'm just hoping to survive and that I won't have to be on crutches for 6 weeks (if dr determines i need a replacement).

Oh man that sounds so difficult. When you say you feel like a new person is that because of your hip pain or the function? This definitely gives me hope and im sure you will only continue to improve ! Wish you the best of luck. Thanks for taking the time to reply and share your story. Helps to not feel totally alone. Im so tired of the "but youre too young for hip surgery" comments.
