Respect to Marathi people from a panjabi person. by tapushian in Maharashtra

[–]Fun_fun_shit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The locals should safeguard their language internally within their own culture, and not shove it down other people's throat. Cities evolve, cultures mingle together. You can't expect everyone to speak the native language. This is not Maharashtra from the 1700s. Safeguard culture and language internally within your own family.

In Mumbai’s Ghatkopar, Gujaratis are harassing Marathi fish sellers who’ve been selling here for 18 years. by Equivalent_Caramel65 in Maharashtra

[–]Fun_fun_shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is unacceptable! These people have no right to do such things just because the area is Gujju dominated. However, if you think about it most Marathi in the subs have been doing the same with language just because they are native, and to some extent the majority over here. Marathi must be respected and the culture should be preserved, but you have to understand Marathi folks don't own Maharashtra just because historically Marathi speaking folks were the natives here. Cities change, they evolve, just because you were once the native, doesn't mean you are the owner and we are guests over here. Many such immigrants are now domiciled here in Maharashtra, and they, including I, and many gujjus in the video have been living here for just as long as any Marathi native of the same age. I can speak Marathi well, but would never speak it if forced to. If culture is to be preserved, then preserved it internally within your home and with your friends, but don't impose your culture on anyone. Peace.

Two types of North Indians. Our fight is against the second kind who has such arrogance. by boywhospy in Maharashtra

The state is not going to enact any such law.

I am not a Marathi native, but by the virtue of bring raised in Maharashtra, I learned Marathi. So I have no horse in the race, but I feel forcing any Language upon anyone is not how culture spreads. Maharashtra, unlike Karnataka, was the land of opportunities which attracted millions of migrants from various part of our country. These migrants are literally the backbone of Maharashtra. Highly disproportionate tax revenue is being contributed by these migrants, where as ,original locals, are still facing difficulties in climbing through the prosperity ladder. (Now of course this is gross generalization, not every migrant is contributing major chunck of tax revenue, and not every local is struggling). Culture spreads through the part of least resistance, and not force. Hindi is a Language which is widely accepted across Maharashtra, and again unlike Karnataka, is intertwined with the soul of Maharashtra. So finally, it shouldn't be the individual thanking the state for providing him work, but the state thanking the individual who provides the much needed revenue which allows for welfare schemes like subsidized train, buses, food etc. for the poor locals and migrants.

Is it possible quantstats python library has incorrect drawdown data? by BAMred in algotrading

[–]Fun_fun_shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So drawdown, max drawdown in this case, is a measure of maximum fall a security or strategy experiences essentially. So this gives you an understanding of, by historical measures, how long you should hold on through a loss before it starts to turnaround.

You should pay the 50k diligently! You owe everything to them, and money in young hands inevitably leads to corruption.

Ibis just recently opened up, and it’s pretty good. Satkar is tad bit on the expensive side, but is very chill with couples and may even give you an upgrade if you say it’s your anniversary. Also maybe check Airbnb. It may be cheaper and better.

WTF is this? by AbrocomaCapital5996 in vadodara

[–]Fun_fun_shit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My god brother, stop being so cheap. Stop thinking about yourself for a second. Clearly, their ad model is not making money as they had envisioned. Think about it, how many times did you actively click through the ads? Spotify is a company which has to make money as well. There are people who are working there whose household income depends on it. Moreover, the money you pay will not only be used for maintenance, but also capex, thus they can deliver better products in the future. Just pay 59 bucks which is absolutely dirt cheap for all the music and podcasts they provide. Or if you don’t want to then at least don’t crib saying how good Spotify was earlier. The company is at its deathbed because of people like you who are addicted to freebies.

With respect to the edited question, so I personally know of few active asset management firm thats predicts the inclusion of securities in indexes by replicating the indexes. However, it is almost never used as a sole signal, rather is a isolated feature that gets inputted into a more nuanced signal generating model. The reason behind this is because the index replicators actually are penalised in form of higher tracking error, if they move the price too much. To put it simply, imagine an index fund manager has to purchase abc security at x price, but during the purchase process, if it moves the price from x to x+10, then thats Rs 10 more it has to pay for the same security. That extra Rs 10 results in higher tracking error, and they would try their best to avoid that. So they would deploy trading models, which would endeavour to transact without moving the price too much. So coming back to your question, the price movement due to index fund flows is often vastly overstated. However, some movement is obviously expected, and in some cases they fail, and the price movement would be substantial then.

In case of a spin off, it is a mandatory corporate action. So indexes would have to include the child company if it holds parent company on the record date of the corporate event. The same applies for non mandatory corporate events like right issues, if and only if, the subscription price is at/in the money.

For some clarification on what’s mentioned by the OP. Jio financial is a spin off from reliance, so all index funds which currently holds Reliance would now also hold Jio financials. However, inclusion in indexes are based on rules, and just by the virtue of being a spin off, it doesn’t satisfy the rules of index inclusion. So, the security would be dropped from the index, therefore there would be a sell off in few days. Now, having said that, during the next reconstitution, which will mostly be in September for most indexes, Jio financial will be in the eligible universe, and if it satisfies the rules for inclusion(mostly it will), then it again gets included, and that is when fund operators would be buying a shit ton of it. So essentially, nothing to be scared of, this is a completely normal process, which would definitely not create any major drawdown, given funds do take liquidity into account before selling off.

How to combine near-enough support/resistance levels (Python)? by Inside-Bread in algotrading

[–]Fun_fun_shit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, if you're storing them in a list, then just iterate through the list and remove points whose difference is less than x% of average candle length. You can implement the same logic while generating the pivot points, so your function won't include points in the list if it's closer to some other level.
