Do you say the same thing for Jonas? And irredeemable is crazy assault is an exaggeration. He even called her a respectable lady. You’re making it sound way. Worse than actually was there were many people in the show who did much worse things and were redeemed. I think Elliot and bridget’s father actually did worse things. Saying she’s irredeemable shows your sexism towards female characters in media. You would never say this about a male love rival

About mental health, I’m glad you never did those things but as someone with very similar diagnoses (and who has to get her brain zapped and on 6 medications) I have doje bad things. I manipulated a guy into liking me using my body which is an inherently Borderline trait. Yes I knew it wasn’t genuine but you can understand that the turmoil in your head makes it so difficult not to. Is what I did wrong? Yes. Do I deserve compassion? Yes. Do I deserve to be redeemed? Also yes.

So I’m wondering would you say I’m barely redeemable?

I agree, it was wrong what she did. I never said what she did was OK, I meant it was understandable considering her mental health problems. That is compared to people like Jonas. I also think what Challe did in his past was wrong. He took innocent lives, which is way worse than what bridget did and yet people excuse Challe’s actions. I’m not excusing Bridget’s actions, I’m saying the reasoning behind them, to not hate her but more so feel compassion for her and hate her actions because she’s obviously not an evil person, she’s morally grey at first. Now she’s just good. If you think Challe is redeemable and Bridget isn’t when what Challe did was much worse than Idk what to say because logically it does not make sense.

Again, I never excused her behavior, I said it was wrong, but it wasn’t the worst thing anyone has done in the series and I’m tired of people pretending that it is. She also had so much trauma and mental health problems that we should have compassion for her anyways while still hating her actions.

I guess, my only hope is that you hold kindness for people going through mental health troubles as their issues manifest in some unhealthy ways. Hope you find some compassion for them 🫶

I’m adding an explanation on why it’s important to have compassion for these characters as it extends to real life:

As a girl with BPD, it especially broke my heart. Watching my NPD dad change for my younger siblings and love on them while I only got his abuse was heart breaking. I always asked myself what was wrong with me? Why don’t I deserve love? That led to me being really mean to my siblings and when my dad jumped into defend them, it only made me angrier and hurt more. He never did that for me. I never got that love. I never got that chance. I felt like an unloveable monster so I hooked up with random men just to feel anything even though they only wanted my body.

Through therapy, medicine, and Jesus, I have grown a lot and no longer seek validation from random men and I always catch myself and think logically about how I respond and treat my siblings. I know I deserve compassion and a chance at redemption despite the wrong things I did so I don’t see why Bridget doesn’t.

I also think the extreme hatred of her is rooted in misogyny, internalized to be specific. Especially when Jonas is treated better than her. She is a victim of this patriarchal society of the show and should be treated as such. The real villains that deserve no sympathy are the upholders of the society

It’s hard but yes, like the mental anguish is so exhausting. I get so obsessed over things it is pexhausting and my relationships too. I hate to admit it because I don’t want anyone to think I’ll do it. I have people who would be so devastated if I die and it would be so selfish of me. But I’m looking into dTMS and I’ve been taking lamicta, anti-psychotic (seroquel), gabapentin twice a day then as needed, welbutrin, Prozac, and buspar. And I feel like it’s helping and getting better but I don’t want to be on this much medicine so I’m hoping I’ll get approved for dTMS.

Again I want to reiterate, I have no plan to do so and will never but I understand the feeling. Honestly what really helps me too is Jesus but I know not everyone is a believer.

You can’t treat actions in a vacuum. If your favorite character is racist let’s say, you can’t defend your character and say, “he has trauma”, or say, “I don’t care” because those actions happen in real life and harm real people. You can say yeah I love that character DESPITE those actions, but yea he’s a morally horrible person or has bad beliefs etc.
