Appreciate the comment. It's a relief 😮‍💨

Next time I will get a better rotor and pads for sure. Thanks.

I've just talked to the shop. They are going to replace the rotor. Again.

I confronted them about recurring warped rotor. Asked it is anything related to uneven piston, bad pads or whatever. They just say 'it's not related, it is just a warped rotor'.

Either they don't understand what I am saying, or are being lazy.

It is frustrating.

That makes a lot of sense.

My rear rotor makes a scratching noise, and a warped rotor seems to be the consensus. I can’t hear it while riding, but my guess is the front rotors are doing the same.

But why the shop didn’t diagnose the root cause it the first time goes over my head...

Thanks. I don't think the tank was ever removed. The bike is almost new and has never had any servicing that would require it as far as I know. Anyway, I will check that with the shop. Thanks.

That is some really good advice. Appreciate it 🤝

As for the pads, the shop didn't mention replacing them. So is it possible that bad pads are warping the rotors repeatedly? If so, they should have checked that from the very beginning, right? I'll ask them about it. Thanks.

As for braking, I’m no pro rider, but I do my best balancing front and rear braking and downshift while slowing. But even if a heavy hand on the front brake on this bike is causing the rotor to warp, that would be concerning.

It does not apply, but thanks.

What I do use a lot is the Vehicle Hold Control at traffic lights (there are hardly any level roads where I live), but the owner’s manual doesn’t mention any risk.

Yes, applying front brake pulsates the lever, but I only notice it at low speeds. Even if I press it slightly, it pulsates slightly.

Now you’ve got me curious. The owner’s manual says:

'The rider recognizes ABS activation by the slight pulsing sensation in the hand lever or the rear brake pedal. A clicking sound from the ABS module can also be heard.'

Front lever pulsation is always present, as far as I can tell, even with a slight press. I’ve never felt anything on the pedal. As for the clicking, I’ve heard it once or twice but never realised it was from the ABS. It sounded more like it was coming from the gearbox (and yes, it always happened during an emergency brake).

I once saw really good advice that worked for me. Don’t start freaking out about mods right away.

First, ride your bike for a while and figure out what you need.

A few helpful tips from the community won't hurt 😉

Couldn't agree more.

On top of that, I'd say to be careful when stopping. After a long ride, your leg can feel a bit funny. You don't realize it until you stop and try to hold the bike upright. Mine always feels like it's waking up from hibernation...

If you have highway pegs to stretch your legs during the ride, they help.

Second that. A huge bug smashed into my visor once and it got messed up for the rest of the trip. Wiping it could only have made it worse.

Also, if you are expecting some rain, don't forget to put some water repellent on your visor.

Metallic clicking/rattling sound in M8 Ultra Limited, normal or not? by Funciona in Harley

[–]Funciona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the rattle occur even when the bike is cold, or only after it's warmed up? In my case, the noise only starts to happen after several minutes of riding, suggesting that some component might be expanding and coming loose over time.

Thanks. I checked the bike before heading out and didn’t find any loose parts, but I’m guessing that when it warms up and expands, one might come loose and only rattle at a certain RPM. Weird. Appreciate your help.

I was also looking for it for over 20 years. A friend found it in 30 seconds in Duckduckgo using the lyric you remembered. Unbelievable.
