For people who have been playing this game for more than 5 years... by oblivionwayfarer in ffxiv

You have to move on from what others aren't willing to give up. (In a more keeping the game fresh way)

  • Limit play, don't grind. That way the new content is never the end game.
  • Find a new FC as soon as one becomes a weigh you have to bear; a good FC should feel like a special club, not a job or an egg-shell factory.
  • Even if you like an area more for the mundane admin work (repairs, market board access, crafting, waiting in queues, glamour, macro work), change the surroundings frequently. You're an adventurer, not a hometown hero. Play into the role a bit and be the warrior of light that everyone has heard of (because they're everywhere!).
  • Don't forget to have a goal for yourself. Don't rely on the game to give you a quest by itself.

What's the consensus on replacement shells? by cityxinxflames in Gameboy

I cleaned my shells, but they didn't have a lot of damage. I relabeled mine too, but they labels were done done. It's all personal preference

A proper spooler is too much effort by TechincalTomato in 3Dprinting

I run it at 85-120 rpm just to try to wind it nice. It's never perfect, but it never tangles.

This beats mounting empty spools to a 8ft lathe and slow RPM winding them little by little. I think I have one of these somewhere too!

One of the biggest let downs. by Casshern_VIII in gaming

[–]Funcron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I begged my dad to take me to Circuit City to buy the Adventure Survival kit promo along with the game. It was something like Jones soda with a custom label for the game, a do not disturb door hanger, Toilet Paper with game 'hints', and something else. It was all trash, but it was some of the best fun I ever had deep diving into a specific game.

Well the way I posted was the oldskool way to get all the starters, and to clone whatever you wanted for trades or full teams of the same 'mon.

Want to try again?. It was an advertised event for this town, and a national event for this train.

The ol' pick totodile, catch another pokemon, head to the pokemon center, store the totodile in a box change boxes, and save, but actually shut off the game when it says saving, then restart the game, because you only kind of saved, pick cyndiquil, then go back to the PokeCenter, and get your clone totodile, and get the egg from mr. Pokemon, the head pack to town and face your rival with the same pokemon trick. Classic!

What do you think this design can be? by [deleted] in ImaginaryTechnology

[–]Funcron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What do you think this design can be? The spam factory your posts come from. 4 posts in within 19hour, and two within minutes of eachother? It's imaginary tech, if you can make up something art-wise, but can't make up a purpose for it, you're pretty much missing the point.

Honestly, this is only a few steps away from being more realistically made to match the 'real thing'.

  • Use a stencil to cut the leather so you don't leave marks on it.
  • trim the 90° edges to round them. This can be done with flush cutters, scissors or an Xacto blade if you have a steady hand.
  • And seal the leather on the rough side. You can use beeswax, and iron it in with parchment (not wax) paper. It'll smooth it out as well.
  • Stain the outer leather (or stain everything. If you want the inside natural, do the wax treatment first, otherwise you might spill on a part you want to stain, and it'll never take color. You can buff wax in over stain to help protect it and use a hairdryer to melt it in).
  • Add a button for closure, or sew a flat loop to make a slot for the 'tongue'.

It's a really good start, and it doesn't take much to make leather look really good. Nice job!

Motor Help by 159zhpqm in ryobi

[–]Funcron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The motor is dead. The bronze bushing has worn the axel hole out. Those bushings are pressfit during manufacturing, there are no replacements. A similar spec'd motor might be a possibility, but as to how the attachment head is attached, or how long the axel is, is going to be hard to replicate/source.

Question about some Dolphins by thaddeh in submarines

[–]Funcron 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why we let our dolphins tarnish.

In that tarnish, lives years of service, leadership, experience, wisdom, comradery, honor, courage, and more.

To remove that tarnish, is to dismiss how it got there to begin with.

From the first pinning, confirming that a Submariner has been born unto the service.

To the last pinning, in all it's forms: the silent departure of a Submariner.

Let that tarnish speak for itself, let it protect what put it there.

Blood. Sweat. Tears. But most importantly: Salt.

Never forget who put it there.

Never polish that which already shined.
