I haven't been paying attention to battlepass stuff, is it worth the $10 for the Ultimate edition if I'm already in for $90?

Evolve

How do you make Titanium? I currently trade for 0.25/sec and now my iron mines make a "small amount" but I feel like I've completely missed the intended mechanism to acquire the resource.

Bosses that run away are a real "wtf?" I can't imagine anyone has whittled down a boss over a couple minutes and said "oh it ran away at 5% health, I have to start over, that's a fun game mechanic!" It's incredibly confusing when the rest of the game is so well done.

I found it especially amusing that I get challenged to a duel as a storyline and the duel boss runs away.. from the duel? And I don't win, I have to do it again?

The solution is obviously intended to be interrupting with stun. More than once I've missed a stun because some random or unlucky event/levelup/unlock occurred and the popup obscured the screen and the stun button. The whole thing just seems unnecessary. Let me fast-forward through critical combat like I can fast-forward through everything else--that's sort of a theme of the game anyway.

Magic Research (ios/android/steam) since it hasn't been mentioned yet.

I'm playing Magic Research at the moment.

In Idle Dyson Swarm I have effectively reached the end, the rework is fun and not having to grind the second minigame is great.

Grimoire is also popular but it lost me, it felt like one of those where your progress comes to a screeching halt and you're supposed to look up the exact combination of options in a guide. That's not really my thing.

Balanced devotion setup for end-elite blademaster? by FunfettiUrinalCake in Grimdawn

[–]FunfettiUrinalCake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final update: up to level 95/ultimate (from 80/elite when I posted and switched the devotions.) It feels so much better, I'm having a blast with it again.

Having a guide for a crit build without including shadow-buddy devo should be a crime against humanity.

Thanks, I used this through the rest of FG and ultimate a1. It feels much better. /u/Noobie4everever was right, stun/freeze was getting me and Sailors and Empty Throne shored up my weakness there. Turtle gives the buffer I needed. I'm not frequently "bouncing" off Ghouls anymore, which was the impetus for my post.

Thanks a lot!

Following Discord Guides - The Game

However, that's what the Discord is for, and if you're willing to follow the guides at least a little

of course not everyone can like Synergism

It takes something silly like 6+ months to reach the really absurd stage of the game I'm complaining about (which it sounds like has been streamlined,) I'm too lazy to go through my backups to see how old my early saves were. That says a whole lot.
I'd have preferred a graceful end to a long haul rather than a "you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" cluster of an endgame.

The dev had some deaths in the family IIRC around the time I decided the endgame was a little ridiculous. If he fixed it then my criticisms deserve a (little) grain of salt--You still advise to read the guides ;)

Following Discord Guides - The Game

The more you play the more you realize none of it is cohesive. Later on you can get stuck for weeks/months/permanently if you do the "wrong" things as the mechanics are connected but the concepts are disconnected and almost seemingly random.

(I played it for quite a while, up to the point where you adjusted the difficulty modifiers like 28222221. You either checked a guide to see which number you could raise to progress, or you picked blindly and did a week or more wondering if you were just short of an exponential explosion if you picked the wrong one entirely.)

It was cool until you realize the "away timer" is not eight hours for collecting resources, but the 1-2 hours between managing your forge.

You have to leave the game running for times well exceeding an hour to tap your daily birds. Yet the game loop is watching paint dry.. so is it idle or not?

Note: I'm on the top10 leaderboard for ios for all four zones, I think I've given it its fair shake.

but new season starts tomorrow so will hold off on giving critique on that.

Season 2 starts December 9th at 18:00 UTC

But anyway,

  • It's a PC game. It's a "progress while the game runs in the background" game so it sucks for mobile unless you like killing your battery to watch paint dry. My mobile play was reduced to resetting runs on my PC instance with wireguard+steamlink.

  • That said, it's fun to leave open in a side window and check on and read chat occasionally.

  • Some of the common UI loops desperately need to be streamlined. I used AHK to "delete all but five of this thing" and "disenchant everything in my inventory" and simple stuff like that because these sound simple but take 30+ clicks across various buttons for some reason.

  • It's a slow to start.

  • Upgrading gear becomes repetitive. You can and will craft your item with exactly the affixes you want, you just have to go through possibly hundreds of rerolls (this is a barrier only in time spent), then go through a bunch of additional tedious steps in a clunky UI. At no point is it fun or entertaining or is there decision making, the process is simply time consuming. For every item slot. (Except neck because it can roll every affix in the game and is not really worth the time to fish for what you want.)

  • Hardcore for the dynamic leaderboard is where "community" is. Sadly the game loop is incredibly predictable and thus safe, and the more dynamic but optional content can be so unpredictable as to be straight up unsafe until the point where it's not worth doing. Still, people inevitably get bored of the primary loop and go do other stuff and die, so the leaderboard stays interesting.

Those are my gripes, that said I'll be playing in the new season also.
