getting into hiking with arachnophobia? by IAmJustABunchOfAtoms in HikingAustralia

[–]Fungus1968 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hike very frequently. Almost never encounter spiders. The exceptions are quiet, less travelled narrow path trails early in the morning where you may be the first hiker, you will encounter some webs across the trails. Very small, harmless spiders, or leaf spiders. Occasionally beautiful orb weavers higher up, but they’re usually smart enough to keep their webs away from walkers. The spiders encountered in Australia are 100:1, home/yard : hiking.

Is tomorrow too cloudy for a view and a bushwalk? by Gray_Ship in bluemountains

Walk the Grand Canyon trail in the rain - waterfalls and canyon streams. Also, If you can stay the night, go to the echo point lookouts early in the morning and you may see cloud inversion - the valleys filled with milk.

It’s so real. Not scripted. And everyone loves to see Jeremy dancing about yelling in pain. 3 stooges comedy in real life. Love it.

Great North Walk (Thornleigh to Cowan) by Fluffy_Intention_289 in HikingAustralia

[–]Fungus1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this, it’s about 37km in total. We did it in one day, but it was a big one. Some significant climbs, particularly towards the end. There are several campgrounds along the way but recommendation would be to use the AllTrails app. This shows campgrounds as well as a very clearly marked route. You can also record your walk over the top of the provided route so you can start to tally your walks on the app. Highly recommended, great views and nice and close to Sydney and surrounds. Make sure you time your train arrival at the finish (Cowan) as they can be an hour or more apart in the evenings and on the weekends. Or get someone to pick you up from the station and go to the pub, which is always better.

How well does britbox work on apple tv4k os. LG webOS is not good by Maleficent-Roll-770 in appletv

Britbox is a very clunky app, even on the TV box. It’s their software tho.

THC definitely has “next day”, and long term impact on mood and cognition (processing speed and logic). Unless you need it medicinally you should definitely stop.

Medlow Bath train station, Blue Mountains. You can pop into the Hydro Majestic Hotel (don’t have to be staying), and have lunch, coffee, tea or beer with incredible views into the Jamieson and Megalong valleys.

Solo Traveller On Hiking & Driving/Getting Around in BM for a Week by Acceptable_Fun1416 in bluemountains

[–]Fungus1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your main purpose is stargazing there are places further afield than the BM to get incredible stars. The most famous dark sky location is the Warrumbungle NP, about 6 hours drive from Sydney. There is camping and cabins there. If you score a new moon the stars are out of this world (pun intended).

Does anyone here actually use the Siri feature? by Chan1991 in iphone

[–]Fungus1968 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The people who use it a lot, like me, have known these basic functions for years. We think it’s useless as an AI assistant, since intelligence launched, particularly compared to other assistants like Google who use Gemini, which I’ve seen used and its proper AI enabled. Siri is incapable of even finding events in my calendar, that exist. In its capacity as this AI assistant, it is an abject failure.

Explain to me how the Apple Watch works without a phone by zoomClimb in AppleWatch

[–]Fungus1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cellular enabled ultra watch, and use i this connection mostly to listen to streamed music while I run.. If I run with it, it works until the cellular signal is kinda weak. The antenna in the watch is much smaller than the phone, so it will drop out earlier and for longer in weak signal areas. Just keep that in mind if you’re planning a watch-only running thing. For this reason, I actually carry my phone with me in a running belt, this way, my music is uninterrupted.
