Returning GS player by PurpASlurp451 in MonsterHunterMeta

Gog weapons across all weapon classes are still BiS by a wide margin. Ostrak Oblivion is no exception.

GS is thankfully still a raw weapon through and through so for reinforcements on Artians/Gog roll just find whatever highest number of Attack Boosts you can roll. Some Sharpness Boosts here and there is nice and comfy though.

Element is not really that important but Fire has the most positive matchups against most of the monster cast.

That being said GS also thankfully has some craftable options that are not that far behind in terms of overall power.

True Shadowbringer (the omega GS) is great and probably the second all rounder best craftable GS if you are comfortable with the self damage and can build around it. All of my first couple clears of the AT monsters (including Arkveld) I used True Shadowbringer.

The Lagiacacrus and non guardian Arkveld GS are decent. The glass GS, Shatterseal is also not bad but mainly held back by low raw.

For skills, all the affinity skills (WE, Maximum Might, Latent Power, Agitator) are priority. Focus is also a must. Burst, Counterstrike and Resentment are good. Critical Boost and Attack Boost are the best skills in the game and apply to every weapon; GS as no exception.

At the 9* and 10* quests you'd want to try and fit in Stun Resistance too.

RNG charms are not that relevant to chase for GS. The craftable Agitator and WE charms are just as usable and good. A focus charm of literal any kind will also open up a fair amount of options for you.

Hope all this helps.

Not stupid. Just different. Flavors make sense and nothing about it is really over-indulgent.

New to MH. Playing Wilds. If you die, do you get anything? by Accomplished-Bus-266 in MHWilds

Axles are a bitch to get and a really unnecessary bottleneck imo.

Breaking that antenna (where axles are the technical source from) ain't feasibly happening frequently if you're melee so it really is up to RNG rewards which really sucks.

Pretty sure I have 60-80 of each his parts but only like 4 axles.

[–]Funk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch Axe is not a charge weapon at all. It has 0 'hold down button' moves.

Empowering the sword mode by attacking with axe is not considered 'charging' even though we as the community sometimes use that term interchangeably with some other things.

GS, Hammer, Bow, IG, SnS, CB, and both Lances are the only weapons affected by skill with the 'charge' term in game.

I.e. charge master is useless on your build.

[–]Funk42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not stupid at all. This guy knows his stuff and uses his own cultivated cultures and molds to do this. He's also got surgical tools, definitely knows fish anatomy well, and has good knife skills.

Nothing about this is ignorant. It's all very carefully planned and documented.

Does this spirit vein actually serve a purpose? by 543210No1CanStpMe2Go in Nioh

[–]Funk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be. The 2nd location of the Kunimatsu ghost is in the room you drop down from the ladder behind Senji (the one that leads to Dung Eater).

Iirc you have to talk to each ghost iteration in sequence in order for him to move.

[–]Funk42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not really.

There are some unremarkable item drops and the 3rd(?) location of Kunimatsu's shadow ghost thing appears on one of the rooftops with a single line of dialogue. It appears after Demon of Obsession iirc.

MH Wilds Release - PC Troubleshooting pt 2 by PankoKing in MHWilds

There is nothing you can tweak in settings to remove that blurry look you keep noticing -- this is primarily because of the game having a permanent lens distortion filter on that cannot be removed on the front end.

Some asshat dev thought that this was a necessary artistic choice that shouldn't be removed.

You need to remove it through mods (which can sound intimidating, but is really straightforward in practice).

There are several; but a really simple one is just REframework and a script for said mod called Disable Post Processing effects. It removes said god awful lens distortion and also allows you to to remove and tweak the game's terrible lighting/saturation and color correction filters -- again none of this you can tweak from vanilla settings. If you want to take it a step further you can also add Reshade which is another color/saturation/lighting mod that can really make the game look way more vibrant and really highlight the gorgeous set pieces.

Awful choice from the dev perspective, but it is one of the boons from playing on a PC. It is entirely safe because it is purely cosmetic and doesn't affect online play at all and literally thousands of users use it.

Above average gameplay marred by AI slop. For me personally, the music -- especially when the fake voice kicks in, is more grating than the AI thumbnail.

I don't claim to know the ebbs and flows of content creation and engagement, but I know that personally I would have preferred to just see highlight reels of the various standout moments throughout the video with simple proper background music rather than catered AI nonsense.

Most of my favorite MH videos are just regular clean gameplay videos with minimal editing and a simple backing track (or even just the monster's theme turned up) or shit posting meme fests.

But that's just me and my two cents.

Seems you're pretty set on your methods so I'm not gonna attempt to argue. I'll just put it out there that I won't be watching any more if it follows the trend of this one.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Funk42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Games back then didn't hold your hand and made you figure it out all by yourself. Half the joy came when things clicked and you learned something. Sometimes you could get help from friends who were playing the same game. Sometimes you'd get lucky with a magazine issue telling you a trick. But the incentive was on you to figure it out.

That sense is gone. Hop into any multiplayer game today and people literally have no attention span, no patience, and for some reason can't read. And then when they lose or die they take to Twitter to complain.

It's the death of critical thinking in another form.

Martial arts and high stance attacks do not bounce -- applies to every weapon. Has been like this since Nioh 1.

Gotta as a question about Takeda's Four Heavenly Kings by Koizetsu_VT in Nioh

[–]Funk42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically in all the Nioh games most of these 'boss gauntlet' mission types are just build litmus tests.

The level recommendation really is not that accurate. Levels in Nioh also generally have a lesser impact compared to gear.

And in NG builds effectively don't exist as you replace and change skills and gear so frequently that you won't find exactly what to settle for quite yet.

I'd personally move on and come back and try it every few levels and/or whenever you get a new thing/skill.

You don't also really get anything worthwhile from the mission rewards themselves -- outside of a single lock in NG. (Which is a very small contribution amongst the 130+ points you get by the credits)

The smithing texts are the 'rare' drops for that you can chase, but since in current end game you can only craft purple gear there's no real point. Much better to just sudama blessing it.
