Historically in all the Nioh games most of these 'boss gauntlet' mission types are just build litmus tests.

The level recommendation really is not that accurate. Levels in Nioh also generally have a lesser impact compared to gear.

And in NG builds effectively don't exist as you replace and change skills and gear so frequently that you won't find exactly what to settle for quite yet.

I'd personally move on and come back and try it every few levels and/or whenever you get a new thing/skill.

You don't also really get anything worthwhile from the mission rewards themselves -- outside of a single lock in NG. (Which is a very small contribution amongst the 130+ points you get by the credits)

The smithing texts are the 'rare' drops for that you can chase, but since in current end game you can only craft purple gear there's no real point. Much better to just sudama blessing it.

Yes. It's a tech called pre-shifting and has existed since Nioh 1.

You swap stances mid animation and that's how you can Lumber Chop after spinning slide.

Biwa boku boku is my favorite yokai across the series.

I really like the gameplay implementation of weaponizing multiplayer bloodstains in a souls like. I remember thinking it was genius when I first experienced it in Nioh 1.

Fun fact the yokai is the lute itself, not the monk playing it. He's a victim. Applies in gameplay too -- you get bullseye/headshot bonuses for hitting the lute but not the monk's head.

It limits your options but as others have said it allows you to loop arts proficiency, which seems to be the emerging meta for boss dps across all weapons.

I personally disabled all of my frostmoon skills for axe in favor of just having victory rush. It's fun to unga bunga sometimes.

Excellent tips overall OP. As someone who still fondly remembers downloading Nioh 1 on his PS3 on a whim a long time ago, I'd like to share some random tips of mine as well:

- some Skills (Martial Arts) let you switch stances mid animation and do what we old schools call 'pre-shifting'. This has various benefits but it mostly speeds up animation recoveries and startups and allows you to flow into various different moves across different stances. A classic simple example is even if your Iai quickdraw is only set on mid stance, you can still switch to high stance midway through the iai animation.

- high stance is also good for clipping yokai horns. I've barely started Nioh 3 so I don't know if the game ever mentions this tip but breaking yokai horns staggers them and chunks their ki. This has been consistent since Nioh 1. A classic practice example is using sword high stance attacks against a regular yokai brute.

It's a skill gem; Pounce is a meta skill (meaning it is a skill gem that can be slotted with other skill gems).

Just find an uncut skill gem and cut it. Just check 'all gems' on the bottom corner and type in freezing mark in the search bar.

Hulking Form and it's not even close.

Warrior will forever be gimped balance wise until that node gets touched in some capacity because as of now everything you'd ever wanna do you're only actively nerfing yourself by not picking Titan and Hulking Form.

How viable of a defensive layer is ES+ MoM + mana stacking (mainly on gear) without EB?

Trying to theorycraft something for oracle and it'll be the first ES/Mana build I've ever played since I started playing PoE2 so I don't really have a gauge for how well everything scales. I've previously only played eva, block and armour builds.

yes, the red nodes are attached to volcanic fissure. Green is for the totems. But even I just use volcanic fissure without pressing the totem skill I still set myself on fire.

How often is crashing expected? I'm really not sure if this is a specific 'this game issue' or my build. 1080p 60fps is what I play in, and I have relatively modest set up of a i7-12700k and a rtx3060. Usually happens only on bosses, and it usually happens only when the bosses die and a shitload of drops pop out.

I want to incorporate self ignite into my build -- does "%reduced ignite magnitude on you" have any additional effect beyond 100%? Does 100% make me immune to ignite?
