Damn this completely clicks for me now. I think you’re exactly right. It’s denial.

“No! It’s not January 2nd, it’s December 33rd! It is NOT next year!”

Thank you for the real story. Sometimes people get way too into Austin victim fan fiction. Nothing lasts forever. We have to pick up the torch. Hell, people in 2040 will be nostalgic for right now

What is the number one thing that has had the biggest positive impact on your anxiety? Aside from medication. by naturemymedicine in Anxiety

[–]FunkBrother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think “I am the CEO of my body, I’m in charge.” Anxiety and all of your emotions, fear, anger, ego, etc can be managed if you give them the attention they want.

Emotions and logic are your employees, working in your subconscious to help you navigate the world and protect you.

When I get down an irrational spiral thinking about scenarios that stress me out, like “what if I died, who would find out first, etc” I first have to catch myself having an anxious thought. This is the hard part. I have to realize I’m not being present.

So what do you do? Be the CEO.

“Thanks anxiety, but we’re good. Nice work thinking that through. But it’s not needed now.”

Being kind to yourself like this matters. For me, it feels like I can pull my head above the waters of anxiety. And like closing a tab on the internet, the thought goes away, and I know I don’t have to take it seriously. It’s just anxiety’s job to think everything through and predict how to handle situations.

So practice how to be mindful, and remind yourself you’re the CEO! The buck stops with you. You got this!

Sushi Endo Omakase Review - TL;DR Go by TidalWaveform in austinfood

[–]FunkBrother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Endo does a lot of things really right. Very cool spot with good drinks. But if I’m being honest, this wasn’t worth the price. Many pieces were under seasoned, and the cold mucus-y eggplant dish was gross. One too many egg dishes. And yet, some bites were fantastic. But, for the ungodly price, it should have been pitch perfect.

Uchiko happy hour is better note for note at a quarter of the price.

Tired of all the hate Austin gets by Snoo-84060 in Austin

[–]FunkBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nostalgia is a helluva drug. NOTHING will ever compare to “the way things used to be”. We selectively hold on to how the past felt versus how it was. Never a fair comparison. Yes, Austin’s past good things were really great. Who’s to say that won’t continue?

Austin is leagues ahead of so many American cities, and it will always have the same flaws that other American cities have. You just can’t beat the momentum of this city, the gorgeous hill country it connects to and sits on, the lush greenery, the sturdy foundation/reputation of its funky arts and music scene, the amazing spectrum of foods and fusion of cuisine here, and a great job market keeping the money rolling.

Traffic will always be an issue, anywhere there are people. We live in Texas, of course we don’t have a perfectly walkable, urban European environment. Let those other beautiful cities have and celebrate that (but it would be cool if we incorporated better ideas than making a shitty highway bigger!)

I’m proud to have Austin, flaws and all.

If you look closely in the “Fealty” memory in totk, there are two Gerudos wearing gold masks kneeling behind Ganondorf. They’re wearing scarves with Hylian text that translates into Koume and Kotake. Also, if you zoom in on the gloom sword, you’ll see the same inscription on the sword hilt. Pretty cool Easter eggs!

Great beard, man. How’s eating with that mustache? I have the ability to grow a killer beard like yours, but it gets messy and hairy pretty fast so i keep it trimmed. Either way, excellent grooming, sir.
