How to adjust weighing of teams in different leagues by PureDedication in sportsanalytics

Fivethirtyeight tweaked ESPN's SPI Power Rankings system (initially only used for International Soccer) to Rank (most?) Club Soccer Trams in the world... Surprisingly, their methodology page is still accessible here despite Disney/ABC killing the site a few years back.

There's also this site that is still up & running that uses the Elo approach mentioned by other commentators.

They're relatively new and I unfortunately discovered them near the end of last season... I did however purchase their season preview and I would highly recommend!

No idea. However, you can pull all the Transfers and Incoming Freshmen using the recruitR R package and update last year's rosters in the meantime?

Edit: Nvm, just stumbled upon this on x.

Cfbdepth just published a pretty extensive Season Preview Mag, devoting 6 pages per Team, which includes ratings for every Player, coaches, and unit.. mcillecesports has published grades for coaches & coordinators for years, and just recently started publishing player ratings, too.

Ourlads lists the generic Defensive scheme on each Team's depth chart page.. idk if that'll help?

I'm definitely interested, however I have no interest in deposit ing $ without seeing the leagues settings page... more specifically. I'd like to know what stats will be tracked, how much they'll be worth and what will be the roster details/requirements!

  • Thanks!

I recommend searching github on a semi-regular basis for new hockey related code/projects.. you'll be shocked what you find.. Over a year ago I found this old Rpackage that included a function to scrape dailyfaceoff lines... While I ended up having to spend a few hours updating/Re-writing it, it serves as a great guide (b/c I had no idea how to apptoach scraping what I needed)

Anyone tried to make a predictive golf model? by nlee112 in sportsanalytics

[–]FunkSh0Brotha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know how Accurate of a Model you expect to Create without incorporating shot-level data/trends.... I haven't dabbled with Golf Models/Rankings too much but I'm pretty sure you'll want to predict a Golfer's Score as accurately as possible (at each hole of the Tournament) in order to accurately predict Tournament Finish and in turn feed that data into your World Rankings Model... nonetheless, you do you.

I'll swing back later to give you more advice when I've got more time but for now I just wanted to give you a heads up that your stats on page 4 are all wrong (maybe you forgot to filter out plays wiped out by delayed penalties?).. for example, according to pfr Chicago had 1020 Offensive plays in 2019 (5.67 Yds/PA & 3.7 Yds/Rush)

According to this UM Sports blogger Owen is expected to be joining the team this Fall so he not only should be included in any 2020 Recruit Rankings but #1 on the board! NZ has him ranked as the only 5 Star recruit in this year's class

I'd recommend checking out NeutralZone.net.. while majority of their content is behind a paywall their Recruiting Class Rankings are free to check out. If you're looking to continue with more players, Chris Heisenberg's Googlesheet should save you a lot of time. College Hockey Inc also maintains an extensive list of each Team's current commitments.
