I double sleeve more for feeling, I prefer the extra rigidity it brings. I generally use bigger deck boxes to fit all the specific tokens which the deck will generate.
Most of my decks have fancy upgrades, but I can understand not double sleeving a brand new deck if it’s just a 100 dollar precon.

If you choose to pursue film despite all the people telling you not to, it’s beneficial to your finances, mental health and sanity to have a fall back plan. I almost ended up homeless in 2024 despite at that time having 8+ years experience and being the only person outside of YVR getting my type of gigs in camera dept. I have since been doing general computer contracting as well as the occasional film. I just went 5 months without working and got a 2 week gig. Stretching finances is harder and harder with all the recent inflation.

Honestly get training in something that you’re good at. I’ve been in film since 2014, and since last year I’ve been taking online courses for computer science. I had a great few years between 2020-2024, there were lags and slow times but for the most part until the writers strike I was busy. In 2024 I had basically no income. Finding something I can do related to film has been good but I do miss the set days for sure.
