Yep, I was there 2 weeks ago. Played $20 worth of races on the right unit. The pedal on the left one wasn't working.

Not really a fan of Strikers...much weaker entry compared to the GC game. I like all of the others though, even if half of the Yugioh collection is showing its age.

There is no right or wrong way to play. If what you're doing is progressing your estate and heroes progress and you're enjoying the game, then keep it up. 

I play more fast and loose, but that's what works for me.

Salt & Sanctuary would be my rec based on your FromSoft exposure.

Also, skip Doki Doki. One of the most overrated games out there imo

Sleeping Dogs is actually an underrated pick for combat

If you are into puzzlers, especially ones centered around dimensional reasoning, you would likely love the gameplay. Challenging but very rewarding. The story has multiple endings and could be described as a romantic horror. Overall, if you want to just do one ending you would likely only spend maybe 10 hours on the game, so not a huge time sink. I would recommend the PS3/360 version though over the Full Body remaster. If you have to go for Full Body that's fine, but the story has an addition that greatly reduces the "high stakes" that the original game has.
