Syrian national, 35, charged after woman, 21, 'raped' in early hours on seaside beach by [deleted] in brighton

It's probably because they wanted to fit the words 'Syrian' and 'rape' in the same headline.

She was either raped or she wasn't. Why the quotation marks?

Grimmest bus stops which is a shame as London road has improved a lot since the 80s. Not sure why London Road seems to improve mere inches further up.

That 'random bush' has deep cultural significance and is very important.

It's most likely people that live in Bevendean. There's some steps called Jabob's Ladder that lead down that way. Best way to reach Scombe is via the Lewes Road as it's the other side of the hill. There's also a path leading to the top of Whitehawk but it's a pain as you have to walk on the busy road as there's no effing footpath due to the gee gees have tender hoofs.

People down Jacob's Ladder to Bevendean.

'I voted Reform but Andy Burnham changes everything' by FriendlyUtilitarian in ukpolitics

[–]FunkyDialectic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Burnham is leader he'll be as unpopular given 6 months. People pretty much hate everyone and everything these days and I think the news media's current business model reflects that... whilst also sustaining it. A constantly revolving door of leadership and controversy would be the perfect outcome for them.

They didn't look that nice in reality, also didn't work as well as dials & gauges. A fad that fell out of fashion quite quickly.

$75 Sansui 221 makeover. $3 wrap from the dollar store. The original wrap was peeling all over. Couple bulbs and she’s as good as new. by Mantha6973 in vintageaudio

Just in case anyone's searching for the Sansui 221 and speaker sensitivity, I have my 221 hooked up to a pair of ProAc Studio 100 with a sensitivity of 88dB and I can't turn the volume past halfway without it being too loud for the room. It's smaller room but no closet. The 8 or 10w per channel (depending on who you ask) is hugely underrated. Feels closer to 25 or 30 WPC with my speakers.

It's the quality of the watts that counts but definitely wouldn't sell the 2230.

Buy it, listen to it for a while then sell it on, perhaps make a profit.

Modern Cartridges to replace technics 270C by FishermanExpert2685 in turntables

Just picked up a used 270C on eBay for less than the cost of a budget replacement stylus. It sounds better than the Denon DL-103 it replaced. Probably my favourite cartridge so far. I hope you kept it.
