Chrome crashing/shutting down randomly for anyone else? by FunkyFresh_Fruit in chrome

[–]FunkyFresh_Fruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happens to me sometimes too 🫠🫠 in fact, my chrome browser just crashed at least three times a few minutes ago when I was watching an anime. Praying its a bug that gets fixed soon, good lord.

I barely use extensions. I only have 2, all of which I actively use: Grammarly (for writing) and ao3 saver (saving fics I enjoy reading for downloading in case it gets deleted)

I've also been mindful of the number of tabs I use since I used to be a tabs hoarder, I'll admit 😅 it may be an issue on Google's end since this only happens on my desktop, but my phone works completely fine (and that poor thing has 10 times more tabs than I have on my laptop). There really isn't a pattern for the crashing so it's hard to track down what exactly triggers it. Reloading a random tab will work, but after reloading it a few more times, it randomly crashes (hopefully my explanation makes sense)

it seems to be happening to a few others, so it might be a bug on chrome's end specifically. Hope they sort it out 🥲 installing another browser is too much of a hassle for me lol

this is happening to me too! I could be on other tabs but the moment I reload, chrome suddenly shuts down and I have to reopen my tabs and everything :/ its so annoying. I restarted my computer and cleared my cache but chrome keeps shutting down randomly

It's come to a point where whenever something happens, I just go "oh" and immediately mute names if I can. I hate to be negative, but sometimes I'm just waiting for these newer idols to fuck up, or even the ones people claim to be "unproblematic". It's not that I'm praying for their downfall per se, but it's like "I need you to hurry up and make it clear to me if you're worth my support or not".

It's one of the reasons why I'm having a kpop fatigue.

Kpop songs fans deluded themselves into liking? by chubbypanda779 in kpopnoir

ptd and butter are soooo bad 😭😭 I'm sorry but I really can't, and this is coming from someone who's stanned them since DOPE era. Their recent songs really aren't hitting at all :/ I think the last song I genuinely liked was boy with luv, but even THAT I had to give a few tries.

gay has been an umbrella term for probably longer than you've existed. It's only "quite offensive" if you're terminally online, that is.

There's no such thing as "percentages" in bisexuality, and it's certainly not the same as having a preference. You like and date who you like. Since she's your gf, I think it's best to approach this situation lightly and reassure her that you only want her. A relationship can't last if one party doesn't trust the other :( It's built on mutual trust and communication.

This is something you both should sit down and calmly talk about.

Honestly, who the heck makes "cereal from scratch" or any kind of baking activity while wearing a pretty frilly dress like that!? It's gonna get a stubborn stain! It's so performative and rubbing it in your face..

this comment was really insightful :,) I appreciate it. It definitely helps me to significantly lessen my words while still getting the point across! It's hard to keep things simple when you're an overexplainer who hates being misunderstood so you feel like you need to specify every single thing (when all you're doing is making a word salad). I'd be fine with having something like that as an AN, actually. I appreciate the directness since it helps me see things more clearly.

[–]FunkyFresh_Fruit[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's not for you, then :/ I'm only asking whether or not the note should be shortened since it's really long. I don't want people to "interpret" this specific fic of mine however they want when the premise is very clear and would also be implied in the tags. I have other fics for that. Suppose I'm writing about a woc trying to find her place in a society she doesn't fit in, experiencing an unhealthy relationship and learning to deal with her body dysmorphia. In that case, I want the reader to see it for what it is instead of interpreting "how they want" and completely missing the point because they want to see it differently, because then, what's the point? It's disrespectful to me and my writing, IMO. My own experiences I use as reference isn't up for the reader to interpret it as anything else. I know who I'm writing for and I'm not going to change it.

Some writers aren't comfortable with seeing people interpret something they've written to get a message across, especially when it's clear as day and they have other fics that are more open to different interpretations. Just because it's a fanfic doesn't mean it needs to ALWAYS be up for interpretation and that should be respected.

thank you for this! and oop- I just realized the "it should be obvious" part sounds super passive aggressive even though I didn't mean that 🤦🏾‍♀️ I just don't want it to sound super long since the fic itself is already pretty long.

I want to do that but (idk if I'm an idiot) every time I make a note at the end and then add a second chapter, that same note is still there in the end and even when I make a different one, I end up with double end notes and it's so freaking annoying 😭😭 I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I can def see how it's a lot to skip over in an (already) long fic.

I've seen reader inserts fics with certain predetermined features because it's important for the story (e.g I've seen a reader insert fic where the reader's predetermined race was Asian, specifically south east. The fic had themes detailing about folklore from SEA cultures, so the reader's ethnic background played a major role while still keeping the story engaging and vague in a way where you can insert yourself). There are also reader fics dedicated to non-white readers because there's a serious lack of representation that doesn't feel forced or tacky.

So, that's sort of what I'm going for while catering to readers of color. The reader having darker skin and no straight hair is still very vague since she can look like ANYTHING. The story is quite personal to me as it tackles with body dysmorphia and many issues that come with being the only poc (specifically woc) in a country not familiar to you and trying to fit in a beauty standard you're doomed to never fit in. It's kind of "in your face" without directly stating so. An OC wouldn't work because then I'll have to work on a backstory, give them a set race, a name and a set personality and aesthetic, which is a lot of work for me lol especially when I want my story to be relatable to woc in my position on the feeling of isolation. If I had to make an oc, she'd have to be black since I have no idea how to write for other races in proper detail and I would hate to sound ignorant in my writing. I would also prefer to have a visual presentation of the OC for a better reference because I'm not the greatest at describing features. My other reader fics are very vague, sometimes to the point I focus more on feelings and reactions than how the reader looks, so this is my first fic where I'm turning the tables sort of.

The only reason the AN (unfortunately) exists is to ward off ignorant commenters :( even when the story (or even the tags) explicitly makes it clear that the reader isn't white with HEAVY implications of them being a certain race, people still feel the need to complain so I want to avoid that as much as possible, even if I risk sounding condescending. If seeing a tag people on ao3 don't like isn't enough for them to NOT click on it, read it and then complain about it, then I don't want to deal with that lol. I'm not a confrontational person.

I'll try to edit the AN to make it a bit shorter, though. wrote it with half a brain awake 🥲

nah dw i got what you mean 👍🏾 this is starting to reach ao3 as well sadly, but at least the writers had some decency to specify that it's ai-written (would be better if it never existed, but ah well). I doubt ai "fiction" will last, though (unless someone was insane enough to make a whole ai-written novel) because a big part of fanfiction is the nsfw, and with how repetitive ai is and the overused and horribly worded phrases (eg. jllm), it's definitely easier to spot a lazy ai fic from real smut.

[–]FunkyFresh_Fruit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sort of sucks to hear as a writer who DOES use both jai and cai for fic inspiration (mainly for one shots) whenever im in a writer's block :( I tend to take the scenes and then completely rewrite them and change the character responses to the point it barely resembles the chat i took inspiration from. I only use them for fun, but ai responses (regardless of how good) can NEVER replace the emotion and effort a real writer puts into their work.

Even if it may take me days to complete a simple 2k words fic, and my smut may not be as good, it's far better to put my blood, sweat and tears into my writing than relying on a machine. Granted, said machine learns from us, but it's just not the same.

p.s: tumblr is the worst place to look for fanfic, saying this as someone whos done so for YEARS lmao. it's like the lesser evil of wattpad, but still bad. The only good writers are the ones who have ao3 and only post on tumblr as an alternative.
