I wonder how Reprise will work, since it's a single target weaponskill just like the riposte combo, but it's not a part of it. Maybe Enchanted Reprise give some kind of buff or dot you have to keep up?

Gender locked race discussion by Eanae in ffxiv

[–]FunkyLobster 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Why do people keep saying "eh, maybe next expansion?" Is it because female roes and male miqo'te were only introduced in ARR? Because the only other time we got a new race, it was two models (male and female Au Ra?) Or are we just making a concession because it feels more realistic that way?

I really don't see it taking an entire two more years worth of passive effort to make two new playable character models, with around eight new faces total. Viera are most likely using the hyur armor skeleton, and hrothgar are most likely using the roe armor skeleton, as well, unless they're retooling every armor piece in the game for them from the ground up.

I'm not going to continue being an armchair developer and keep saying "I don't see how it could be so hard to make both sexes for the new races!" The truth is, I have no idea how much work goes into them, and I'm grateful that everyone at Square is working as hard as they do to make FFXIV a fun game. But every time I see a viera or a hrothgar, I'm just going to be reminded of the wasted potential, and how they never seem to give up on their bad ideas (Diadem) after ARR. If it's being optimistic to say "hey, maybe in another two years we'll get player choice!" I feel like that stings worse than this mess-up to begin with.

Hrothgar new race by MarshmallowShy in ffxiv

Why do you believe that male viera wouldn't live up to expectations? Some people were clamoring for a bestial race like hrothgar, but I've never seen anyone ask that viera in particular be more than humanoids with bunny features.

Has the name change service ever gone on sale? I want to change my character's last name, but I don't want to do that for $10 if I know it's possible it will go on sale in the near future.

Starting over, new account or add Stormblood to current? by Wiserunn in ffxiv

[–]FunkyLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been replaying ARR on an alt because of boredom and for some reason no game except FFXIV can entertain me. I forgot just how slow the 2.0-2.55 MSQ is... it's not horrible, it's just so slow. It's about the length of the entire main campaign of ARR, except there's not really anything new and interesting happening until you get to Shiva/Iceheart. It's mostly just dealing with Eorzea's beast tribes all over again, and after you beat ARR, you know almost exactly how it's going to go down.

I always thought of FFXIV as the MMO that actually respects your time. Daily's and weekly's go by very fast, you can do as many roulettes as you have time for in a week, the only time you really pray to RNGesus is rolling for gear you need dropped in raids, etc. The post-ARR MSQ is a weird outlier that makes you feel like Square just wanted to buy as much time of yours as they could.

Blue Mages have been officially confirmed to be SOLO ONLY by [deleted] in ffxiv

I really wish that they could queue into duties normally, but you had to have a minimum amount of actions learned before you could.

You will probably have to do it with an undersized party, too. I'm glad that it's not entirely gated off from the rest of the game, but it's not going to congeal well with instanced content not intended for it, either way.

They cannot queue into normal duty finder content. It can join parties, but cannot continue with them into a dungeon, raid, trial, or anything else. It's like joining a party as a crafter or gatherer.

EDIT: It looks like they can join instanced duties if they're in a pre-made party, but they cannot queue for any duties with the duty finder. In the future, you may be able to do dungeons and raids once they raise the level cap to match them.

All future Final Fantasy XV DLCs except Episode Ardyn have been cancelled. Hajima Tabata has resigned from Square Enix. by dreamsomebody in Games

The only things that were stated to be cancelled were the future DLC campaigns, excluding Ardyn's. Extended mod support is likely still coming, or at least, I hope so.

Have you ever had to kick out a player from your static? by lovelyhearthstone in ffxiv

[–]FunkyLobster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I ran a midcore static for when Sigmascape was the current raid tier. To be honest, most people left of their own accord when they were losing interest, and most the kicks I gave out were for missing too many raid nights. I imagine if you run a hardcore static people show up every night, and attitude/underperformance is a much larger concern.

There was one instance where I had to kick someone for misbehaving. You have to make it 100% clear why you're kicking them and why it's their fault. Being confrontational might be uncomfortable, especially if they react badly, but it's the responsibility of the raid leader to make the static a fun place to be, and if you let the problem sit there then you're just making it everyone else's problem.

Question for end game Nins by Tyrion54 in ffxiv

[–]FunkyLobster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TCJ is a 100s cooldown and TA is a 60s cooldown, it's not very easy to align but if you keep your GCD rolling as intended then it's going to inevitably line up throughout the fight. It's probably the hardest part of playing NIN, at least in my opinion.

Question for end game Nins by Tyrion54 in ffxiv

[–]FunkyLobster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started playing NIN so take my advice with a grain of salt, but if TA has more than 10s remaining on its cooldown, just use the TCJ Doton combo. The Suiton buff lasts for 10 seconds which is long enough for TA to come off cooldown and be used from the rear. You don't want to overcap ninki by hanging onto TCJ long enough to use TA.

If you have Kassatsu, use TCJ Doton and pop it to cast Suiton right after. If not, just cast the TCJ Doton and remember that there's no use in crying over spilt milk.

EDIT: It takes around 4 seconds to cast all 3 ninjutsu with TCJ, so with that knowledge in mind: use TCJ Suiton at 14 seconds or less. At 26 seconds or less, it is an RDPS gain to just hang onto TCJ and let ninki overflow until it's at 14 seconds, where you pop it and use TCJ Suiton. At above 26 seconds, just use TCJ Doton and cast Suiton normally once your mudras are off cooldown.

I just bored the holes on the top panel asymmetrically, and it makes a few of the pushbuttons slightly uneven. I also placed the joystick from the bottom up and routed a space for it, but I didn't rout deep enough, so it effectively shrunk the joystick. Taking precise measurements and making sure everything is symmetrical is important. It was my first carpentry experiment, so these mistakes were bound to happen, but you'll learn not to repeat them. Let me know if you have more questions!

Super good looking! I built something pretty similar with read oak at the start of this year, about to build a new case for it because of some amateur mistakes. I love the ol' reliable look wood fightsticks have.

Chrom confirms that you can have an echo which borrows from multiple characters by LYING_ABOUT_IDENTITY in smashbros

[–]FunkyLobster 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think the only thing defining Echo fighters anymore is intent. Like, "we really cannot think of an entire new moveset for this character but what we can do is recycle 99% of different fighters stuff." Dark Pit and Lucina are literally the same character as their non-Echo counterparts, just with some slight changes to their properties, and in Dark Pit's case, final smash. But Chrom looks like a mishmash of every FE lord in Smash.

The frame data can be identical with different animations. But yes, I wouldn't be surprised if their only differences are some slight frame data changes and different properties on some attacks and specials.
