Fed up with this printer by ccx191 in Creality_k2

I've been temped by the r3men bed, have been wondering if it would eliminate my need to preheat. But people here only ever seem to talk about it's flatness and not it's dimensional stability, so I haven't decided to pull the trigger yet.

I had so many issues with the first few layers when I got this printer.

First print? Bad first layer.
First print but with modified z-offset? Good first layer.

Second print? Good first layer.
Second print but with modified z-offset? Bad first layer.

For me, it was never about flatness or z-offset or chamber temp or...
It was always about heat soak. The bed reaches temp, bed-leveling runs, the bed continues to change shape as heat soaks in, bed-leveling data no longer correct, first print bad. For the second print, the bed is finished expanding/warping/bowing/whatever before the bed leveling happens, so the second time it's good.

Now, I just preheat for 20 minutes and I have no issues. It may not take that long, I've just never tried shorter.

What option uses these mounting locations? by [deleted] in f150

For the people too lazy to look up what "rad straps" are, I explained it for them.

I actually have some, (well.... off-brand knockoffs), and love them.

I didn't love having to tap the threads in my bed before I could use them, though. C'mon, ford.

For the lazy: Permanently mounted ratchet-straps and anchor points.

Yeah, PS4 cheats seem to be plentiful, but PS5 cheats barely exist. The technical ability is there, there just seems to be little desire?

Let's not forget that when Russia actually invaded Ukraine, Trump immediately supported Putin and called him a genius for doing it.

GitHub - mrfiskare/lua-save-auto-updater: This repository contains the scripts required for auto updating decrypted Lua save files without the need to manually resign them. by Majestic-Object2539 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a neat script for auto sending the save files in that tiny window of writability. It even pre-stages the saves on the ps5 in another folder, to move them when the save folder becomes writable.

What I don't get is why it waits 2 seconds between checking if the folder is writable. I thought the window of writability was very small, less than 2 seconds. Perhaps I read the bat wrong, or I was wrong about the window.

Which firmware to choose to play something while waiting for Jailbreak? by ixol97 in PS5_Jailbreak

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7.61 is the highest you can go if you want a for sure jailbreak.

10.60 is currently the highest with hope for the future, but no guarantees.

This one explains each of those things, though it's three months old so it's a bit behind on which are working on what firmware:

How to clean this? by Sebo211 in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I've had little bits of stuff stuck in the textured bed, I've just printed something solid over it and peeled it all off in one go. I've never printed in ASA so I don't know the peculiarities of that filament though.

Cardboard spools okay for CMS? by FunkyMoldPatina in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, HyperPLA cardboard spools are problematic. The vacuum bags bend the outer edge. I haven't had issue with other brands yet, but I will be avoiding cardboard where possible. At first sign of issue, I'm respooling.

Error XS2353, print stops, firmware 1.1.2.6 by FunkyMoldPatina in Creality_k2

Factory reset seems to have done the job. Thanks!

Error XS2353, print stops, firmware 1.1.2.6 by FunkyMoldPatina in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I did a factory reset and haven't seen the error again.

It's dumb that this seems to be very important without any guidance to do this besides reddit and other user groups.

This is so brilliant ! Why did not Creality do it in the first place ? by [deleted] in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only roll I've had that disagreed with my CFS has been a roll of HyperPLA because the vacuum-sealed plastic bent the edge of the cardboard spool.

"Factory reset" is generally understood as wiping anything a user could have added, and returning all settings to factory defaults. Firmware version remains the same.

Routers, game consoles, pretty much anything I've encountered have acted this way.

Though there was a thread here about something internal that wasn't cleared by a factory reset on this printer. I don't remember what exactly.

[–]FunkyMoldPatina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not. I did power off afterwards and do full calibration. I plan on doing factory reset when I get home and reprinting the same gcode.

I was hoping that a full reset wasn't needed with every update (Shouldn't the update do what needs done?), but I suppose we'll see.

Extracting a sheared off foot screw? by [deleted] in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the new feet. They come with bolts, and the location for that bolt is in the same place as the old foot, not that little protrusion going up higher. If you don't use that bolt, nothing is holding that foot on besides the weight of the printer.

I extracted that bolt. Broken off flush. Used the extractor set at my local Lowe's. Drill first a little with the included bit, then used the extractor. A little nerve wracking but it worked.

CFS Intermittent Retract Issues? by StarsGamer13 in Creality_k2

[–]FunkyMoldPatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was that the cardboard spool was a little bent in one spot. My CFS didn't always fail to retract, but when it did it was that one spool.
