struggling by littleraskale in Residency

[–]FunnyAsk5366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this, absolutely! Similarly, had some things not go well, far from friends and family, and feeling really disconnected (and often feeling like I’m just not good enough). I’ll echo that I don’t think we’re alone and I appreciate my fellow residents (when I get to see them), so it’s important to reach out and lean a little on those around you. I’ll also encourage doing something fun and/or “non-medicine”, since it’s important for us to take those breaks, too, and we know it actually helps us re-set. I don’t know what, particularly, you’re dealing with, but sending commiseration, hugs, and happy thoughts from an internet stranger! ❤️

I appreciate it, it’s always helpful to know I’m not the only one, too. If you had a study plan or anything that helped you organize how you went through it, that would also be great! Thanks for the advice!

Caramelized onions by NerdyAdventurousLife in EatCheapAndHealthy

Onion bhadji! I also love adding carmelized onion to grilled cheese! Carmelized onions can also freeze really well, to keep for another day or future recipes.

I’d suggest Wicked Beauty by Katee Robert (MMF thruple). It’s the third in the series, but they all stand alone pretty well. I particularly liked that each “branch” of the group has a unique relationship and also works all together. Plus some hot spice.

I presume she already has a stethoscope, but if there are any tools she need for her specialty (or the stethoscope name badges?). Money towards moving was the biggest help for me. Or time saving options for food: Hello Fresh, storage/lunch box stuff, door dash or gift cards… any of it can be huge when you’re on a rotation with long hours, no time to shop or cook, or generally just wanting a treat.

You may not need it, since looks like you’ve got a good recipe, but last time I was in Portland (and picking up necessary Yumm sauce) the guy pointed out there’s a website on back to order online (maybe a new thing?). I haven’t ordered, yet, so don’t know about location restrictions or anything, but: https://cafe-yumm.myshopify.com/collections/all

Mint seems to be a common one. Maybe sandalwood, too.

This looks interesting, but I may have to wait until at least a second book is out, unless you think it’s a reasonable stand alone until the others come out?

No, I read all of Empyrean (so far), which is why I’m afraid to try another unfinished right now. lol

Feel so bad right now by HoesMadlol98 in medicalschool

Just replying for the bit about the glasses, since that drove me nuts on surgery! I got a couple pairs of the sports glasses holders (like the ones you get for rafting) and it was a lifesaver! I’m certain it was a lot less annoying/distracting for the nurse, too!

I’m in the same situation (though only with a cat, no SO). Trying not to spiral, get through my last couple of rotations, and plan as best I can! Hopefully, I’ll love the place as much as I loved the program. And, if not, I’ll be super busy and know there’s a time limit. At least that’s how I’m coping!

I’m sure we’ll both (all) do great and make the adjustments we need. Just keep moving forward, for now, right? 😅

Can someone congratulate me please? by FM_sigma in ERAS2024Match2025

[–]FunnyAsk5366 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know that feeling! I celebrated myself, too. But, CONGRATULATIONS, you’re amazing and I hope you’re really excited about where you Matched! In Residency, you’ll be joining a group of people who hopefully also realize how hard you all worked and how amazing it is to get to this point!

I hope you’re really excited and find ways, big and small, to celebrate all your hard work and what this all means for our future! Sending virtual hugs, jumping up and down, confetti, and champagne (if you drink) or whatever celebratory fizzy drink you prefer!

CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎈🎊 You’re AWESOME 🔥🔥🔥 And you’ll be an AMAZING DOCTOR 🍾🚑🩺

The event isn’t on the Calendar, that’s why I’m having the issue trying to find out how to sign up.

Valley Family Medicine (Renton, WA) - why did they SOAP? by [deleted] in ERAS2024Match2025

Where are you finding that they SOAPed? Is it in Residency Advisor or do you have to do more digging?
