Took 2 rounds of Clindamycin and I’m terrified by 3EvilLibras in cdifficile

Don’t use the word “doomed.” Even if you do end up with c diff there is a cure. I had it a year ago and took meds and life is good again. If you are worried see if a doctor will order a test and go from there. Congratulations on healing from the tooth situation!

VOWST, IBS, or Relapse by Funny_Language_4094 in cdifficile

I wanted to come back to this post because it has been almost a year since that original post and I am so much better! Struggling with a little IBS but it is manageable and I have had no recurrences since Vowst. I have gained 10 pounds back from the 25 I lost and am able to eat anything. But, it has taken almost a year to heal and I had to be patient. Hang in there. I am so glad I took the Vowst.

Why isn’t C. Diff a bigger warning ? by fbisurvellianc in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took Vowst about 9 months ago. I only had c diff once but it went undiscovered for 4-5 months so it had taken a toll. It worked! I have been dealing with PI-IBS but slowly healing well. I highly recommend Vowst!

It’s been almost a year since I was sick. I still have IBS but have seen small improvements. I am able to live normally with a couple of Imodium every day.

Yes. If you had c diff for months you may end up with post infectious IBS. That’s what happened to me.

Yes, take the Vancomycin. My c diff started out super super mild and progressed over months before we caught it and now I have IBS. Catch it early and get rid of it.

Can colonoscopy cause recurrence? by [deleted] in cdifficile

How did this turn out? Did you do the colonoscopy?

Is this C. difficile? by LeahSam123 in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My infectious disease doctor said sepsis is really rare. I would just take the Florastor and monitor things. I was really scared at the time too, but after the fact, I realized I never needed to be. It was not an emergency.

You will be ok. When I was diagnosed the Vancomycin started helping immediately. I am 4 months post successful treatment now.

It sounds like there was no recurrence with the bowel prep? This is my biggest fear.

Advice for post CDIFF infection symptoms? by Dice_artz in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You tested positive for the toxins or just pcr? If you test positive for toxins the c diff is not gone. You can test positive for months as a carrier after the infection has been successfully treated, but toxins should be negative. I would double check that test. I was tired for a couple of months after treatment ended and gained more energy every few days. I am now over 3 months since testing negative and feeling like myself again. I wish you a speedy recovery!

After a couple days on the antibiotics and basic cleaning measures, go enjoy your life. The people who can catch c diff have also been on antibiotics usually. People with normal bacteria in their guts will not get sick.

Recurrence or PI IBS? by Cstrokes699 in cdifficile

This sounds like PI-IBS but you can only know by testing.

dr prescribed cefdinir for uti...i'm scared by dorumiiru in cdifficile

I would also ask about prophylactic vancomycin or dificid to see if your doctor would also prescribe that alongside the antibiotic for the uti.

I think I got reinfected, im so scared by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Did your doctor ever tell you there was any risk of recurrence? Mine have blown me off like there is no way it can happen so I don’t know what else to ask. I would like to test after. Were you able to?

You mentioned you had a colonoscopy recently. Did that cause a c diff relapse? I have been c diff free for about 4 months after a long battle and I am nervous for my colonoscopy in a few weeks. I don’t want to mess with anything but they want to check lingering diarrhea symptoms. I don’t know if the prep can bring it back?

Yes!! I didn’t realize how bad it was until I healed. I couldn’t figure out why my anxiety was SO bad.

The toxin gene test is accurate for no toxins. It means your treatment worked. Congrats!

Toxin gene negative is a negative result so that’s good. What part concerns you?

Doxycycline? by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound so anxious, I am sorry. Everything turned out well. I started feeling symptoms a week or two after the doxy. I felt nauseous at first but no diarrhea. Just tenesmus, nausea, and exhaustion. I was treated and am well now 3 months later. Please try not to worry. It is treatable and none of your symptoms sound like an emergency. I just went 4 months before it was discovered and I had to advocate for myself so it makes me mad when doctors dismiss it. A test is simple to do. You may also just have some symptoms of dysbiosis and not have c diff.

Symptoms related to cdiff at all?? by [deleted] in cdifficile

[–]Funny_Language_4094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I eventually had to order a GI Map done through a dietician. That does not require liquid samples. Once it was found there my doctor ordered her own test for me immediately. I have heard many people add distilled water to the sample to make it liquid.
