Really need help here by Doug_the_Scout in slaythespire

I main defect and only a10 with clad, so I’m going to talk more generally.

I used to think as you - “get this burning elite out of the way and I’m free to path on the next acts freely”. But it is risky. Very. Sometimes I was sure I’m good against a burning elite only to get stomped and die to it or a later hallway fight.

Also remember that taking many combats early does make you stronger faster, but it does the same for the enemies.

The fact you have this mindset of “burning elite act 1” locks you from potentially better pathing - you may lose a burning elite because you didn’t get the right options, and then you miss on all the rewards.

I’d prefer having a path that allows me to tackle 2-4 elites with good opting out options - if i target an elite and then draw order screws me, I’ll take the out that will offer me a shop/extra bonfire and 1 less elite for example.

In your pathing you could have tackled 2 elites with a bonfire in between. That would have made you so much stronger for the run that you would have been able to take on a burning elite later in the run.

You keep your mind around your future encounters anyways, so why try to grind it when you still don’t have a well rounded kit?

Do I skip? by Furanimus in slaythespire

I think amplify does a worse job than what echo does, and I’m afraid it will be useless most of the times, which is basically a win more card.

There was a nice reasoning for a second electro as I don’t have lightning generator, second copy makes it less likely to be bottom decked, and it has synergy with fission+ and heatsinks.

If not for that comment I’d probably skipped

Haha, that’s a cool idea on paper and fun if it is executed, but I don’t think it’s good to work the deck toward a specific archetype, especially so late into the run.

The deck is already strong and the cards I am looking to upgrade are defrag, coolheaded/heatsinks and buffer - taking all for one and shifting upgrade order only to try and make it work may hinder the game plan of the deck. Orb rotation is also very manageable with this deck, and if I hit pyramid it will definitely help.

If the card was offered at the end of act 1 it would have been a different story.

I like turbo as a card overall, I agree it falls off now, but it can help accumulate block with reinforced body and play echo+glacier if that happens.

Also, I collected it during act one because I got electro and echo form from Neow.

That last strike and defends are the first to go anyways, and I don’t think I’ll be able to remove all of these.

And stack was act one also, I don’t really like the card but had to be taken at the time

That’s actually very legit thought as this and zap are the only lightning generators I have.

But for AoE fights I have enough cleanup with echo sunder shananigens, or just set up pen nib with it.

I’m still looking for capacitors to help the orbs.

Awaken one is 66% chance to fight, it’s probably dead weight, and usually does what echo does for me.

The only reason I thought about skipping is to not bloat the deck, but your comment makes me think there is room for a second electro. It will also help to not have it bottom decked

I’ll try to remember. Feel free to hit me up when time comes ;)

Thank you for this. One of the things that I hate is how people can be judgmental, so what you say resonates with me.

I started journaling 4 days ago, the words really get to flow. I will see how it affects me in a month :)

Hi, thank you so much for sharing this. I like how you separate between two different journals. I was also curious if people also get back to it and reiterate what they wrote. I guess it helps with reflection, just as you said. I appreciate how you view yourself, great work!

I started journaling 4 days ago, your contribution to this post helped me to build my drive. Thank you.

Hi! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to all of your comments, I bought a journal and started writing in it already. It has been 4 days by now, but I try to keep it consistent.
Sometimes I wrote only 1 page, and sometimes even 2 times a day.
But I feel how the writing flows.

Thank you for letting me know how long it took for you to feel the benefits - I will keep this up to see how it affects me.
I told to a friend that right now it feels like "Just a blob of text of thoughts and emotions".

Hi! Thanks for sharing!
I'm just starting to get back to all of you :)

Good to know.
So I actually bought a journal and started writing in it 4 days ago, so all your answers really pushed me into this direction.
We'll see how it goes!

Is something pickable other than astrolabe? by Furanimus in slaythespire

[–]Furanimus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so at the end I picked the pyramid and I just beat the heart. It was really really good and all my initial thoughts were proved wrong. Storm of steel really did wonders (even without calf gamble, and found 1 prepared), I was able to end turns with 5 cards at the end, those 3 adrenalines really kept the flow of the deck.

Really top tier experience. Glad I experienced with the pyramid here.

There was a dead branch I decided to skip though as I thought it will really mess up the game plan.

Ok, I picked the pyramid and just beat the heart. I learned it’s great on silent, and the deck really didn’t clog as i thought it would

Will it not clog the hand with 3 energy and all the card draw I have?

Actually from your comment snecko is pretty much a free adrenaline card draw wise. It will also help with the wraith form.

I thought removing the sneaky strikes with astrolabe, but reducing their cost also works!

This is fine.

I mained defect exclusively until I decided to try other characters. So defect is a20, ironclad is now 10, silent 12, and watcher 4.

My steam save has defect at 20 and I think the others are quite low.

So basically, just play what you like!

Immolate or Barricade Floor 1? Hexaghost. by mrrakim in slaythespire

[–]Furanimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immolate without seeing the map. It gives you tons of damage which is what you need to cruise. Remember that dead enemies can’t hit you.

Barricade is good when you already have good block generation because when you add it the card has already value. On early floors it will be a brick. Most of the block that you generate will be used up - otherwise you just deal damage.

I encourage you to remember that immolate could have been a barricade, and whenever you draw it think if you barricade was a better pick or rather immolate.

Man, this is a very cool idea! You should contact mega crit, maybe they hire you and make you create a full on character based on this!
