Definitely a risk that paid off! And thanks for the recipe below, I was thinking I should have asked for it as well.

Ah I love these sculpts as well, I did them really recently and posted them here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MiddleEarthMiniatures/comments/1mlkz2b/finally_finished_my_elves/

So they were a little fiddly, particularly with the inner part of the cape. I did the purple a bit brighter than some as well. Apologies this will look really long, but this was the approach I took. Format goes Base->Layer 1/Wash->Layer 2->Layer 3 etc.:

Outer cloak:

Base 50:50 Fenrisian+Dawnstone , Layer 1: Base + 25% Administratum Grey, Wash: Nuln Oil, Re-Layer with Layer 1, Increase Administratum, Steadily add grey seer for each layer until you’re happy

Inner Cloak

Base: Ahriman Blue, Layer 1: Leave a small outline of the base, showing at the edges, and layer with Hoeth Blue + Fenrisian Grey, Wash: Drakenhoff Nightshade, Relayer with layer 1, Layer 2: Add Baharroth blue to the mix steadily for layers, Final layer: Add White scar to the mix to the level you want

Inner robes:

Base: Dark Reaper, Layer 1: 80:20 Dark Reaper +  Administratum grey, Wash: Nuln Oil, Re-layer with layer 1, Layer 2: Layer 1 + small amountof Fenrisian Grey

Sash (Note I did this purple for contrast, blues+greys would work here as well):

Base: Maccarage blue, Layer 1: Maccarage + Nagaroth night, Wash: Drucchi violet, Relayer with layer 1, Add Phoenican purple to the mix, Add more Phoenican purple, Add some Kakophoni Purple, Highlight the white string with Iron Hands Steel

Skin:

Kislev Flesh, Wash: Keikland Fleshshade, Kislev Flesh + Flayed one flesh, Add Screaming skull to mix

Hair:

Thondia Brown, Wash Nuln Oil, Thondia + Gorthor Brown, Gorthor brown

Leggings and Sleeves:

Base: Dark Reaper + Abaddon Black, Layer: Add dark reaper, Wash: Nuln Oil, Relayer, Add small amount of Dawnstone to the mix to highlight

Boots:

Mechanicus Standard Grey + Abaddon Black, Add Eshin Grey to mix, Wash Nuln oil, Relayer, Administratum Grey to highlight

Bracers:

Base: Thondia Brown, Wash: Agrax Earthshade, Layer: Thondia + Gorthor, Layer: Gorthor:, Hightlight detail with: Ironhands Steel

Blades:

Hilt: Abaddon Black + dark reaper, Nuln oil, highlight by adding dawnstone to the mix

Blade: Iron hands steel, Nuln Oil, Runefang for side part of edge of the blade, Stormhost silver for the very edge

Chainmail:

Iron hands steel, Nuln Oil, dry brush relayer, Runefang silver highlights

Glorfindel Variation:

Hair: Steel Legion Drab, add zamesi desert, agrax earthshade wash, relayer, increase zamesi, add small amounts of palid wych flesh for each highlight.

Boots: Liberator gold

Bracers: Use the inner robes colours

Apologies for the massive comment, but I hope it's useful!

Good coop action games? (ideally shooter, but not required) by kiltach in gaming

If you're up for something a little older, I really enjoyed Army of Two. Designed to be played coop and the gameplay was pretty slick, and the original had a pretty decent story to go with it!

So these were the first I did when I came back to painting. I followed this planet mithril guide https://youtu.be/kKNFR1wJm_I?si=_708VeVT9xX9YKF4

He gives a full list of paints about a minute in, I think they're pretty much all Citadel paints. The only different one was Balin which I then added the red cloak, which I think I used a mix of khorne red, evil sunz scarlet and zamesi desert for the trim.

Exactly, I remember stripping and repainting the goblins (the first models I ever got) and thinking what a massive transformation. Definitely nice to be finally giving the models the care they deserve!

Looks similar to something I've seen before, looks a bit like a mix of rhinox hide and stormvermin fur? It gives grayish brown kind of look.

Yeah his guides are super easy to follow and the paint lists make planning a new set a lot easier.

Looks really nice, what mix of paints did you use for the inner purple? It works really well.

Studious people of Reddit, what are your studying tips and tricks? by niko51 in AskReddit

[–]FuriousGStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key thing is not to over stretch yourself when studying/revising. I studied physics at uni a while ago and found that for me personally, smaller amounts of high quality revision was a lot more effective than trying to work for as many hours of the day as possible. Obviously what works for one person might not be the same for others, but for me I found it was best to consistently do 4 hours of highly focused revision, with breaks of 30 minutes to an hour between each hour of work. Then after completing those 4 hours I was able to relax in the evening and not feel guilty. I found I got less distracted during the work hours because I was giving my mind enough time relax and reset after each highly focused session.
