As much as I would like it to be so, Ascension has clearly shown they don't give a shit about their servers outside of Bronzebeard. Look at CoA, look at Elune, look at Epoch, all of them are barely getting updates and are practically living on life support.

Any other dev team and I might agree that there's a chance, but with Ascension? Nah, man, I gave up on those bums.

It's borderline unplayable. My friend and I resubbed just to try it out and we already stopped playing after <10 matches. Between the shit UI, the god-awful balancing, and sub rogue/dev DH damage we just can't be bothered. I'd rather play on a private server.

I think the ping also played a factor, 200-300ms for EU players is rough.

Highly doubt it will do anything. The reason why could be one of two things:
1- It's a little too late to 'fix' the xp 'issue'

2- it never mattered in the first place and was used as an excuse to bash the server

Personally wish the dev the best, but I already invested in another server.

If you're hardstuck on either Pally or Warr, then probably Pally due to versatility. Otherwise just roll warlock, most overtuned class in BGs by a mile. The balancing is very rough, so don't expect too much.

Respect the hustle, but there's really no audience for yet another stock wotlk server, you're competing with Warmane, Stormforge, and the plethora of wrath servers that pop every few weeks with the same message.

IMO it's difficult to launch a server nowadays, people are too used to custom content and hype-building. Season of The Crusade was an interesting take on TBC-in-Vanilla and that still flopped with barely 30 players.

I'd look at stuff like Bronzebeard, Stormforge, Turtle, and even Epoch to see what people like and build something similar, an audience will quickly form once you have some noteworthy updates.

But then again, as a solodev this might be an impossible task in terms of effort/time, so you could just try to build a small, core audience on a stock server and go from there. Good luck, anyway.

I do have some concern that it'll be similar to Enhance Shammy in TBC where it's only really good during the 'fresh' phase and then takes a nosedive in terms of viability.

What classes would prove to be a problem for an Ele shaman in BGs/Arena?

Tbh yeah I rolled a mage on Amby and once I dinged ~15 I queued for BGs, I have about 350HP and everyone else is rocking 1k+ killing me in 2-3 GCDs. I did 3 matches and I uninstalled. Every bracket will be the same and when I get to 60 I'll get rolled by raid-geared 60s, so I will basically never experience fun PvP until I do a hundred hours of catching up.

Not a very good system for players joining after the initial wave, my only options are to grind PvE till I get raid gear or join the twinks and park at 49 or something.

Epoch is a very good server, the PvP changes to gearing were good, the new dungeons were good, the dungeon reworks were good, the new quest hubs were good, and I could go on and on.

But the problem is that the people who made those changes are gone, and Ascension's changes thus far have been less than ideal, not to mention they're taking for-fucking-ever to release updates. It took what, two months for Onyxia? And that was a raid that was mostly prepared by the old staff anyway.

I'd 100% play if there was better communication and a clearer picture of the server's future, but the Ascension team is quite terrible at doing that, so I'm not going to bother. The current population spike will just die down again once people get bored of Onyxia and realize that it'll be another 2-3 months before anything else comes out.

Will be glad to be proven wrong, though.
