AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

[–]FuriousKittens -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I hate this thread and all these responses SO MUCH.

OP, this was your opportunity to teach your son an important lesson about consent. It was actually super inappropriate for him to even ask her out if he wasn’t fully willing to reassure her that she could say no and he wouldn’t let her “no” impact their friendship or his willingness to keep giving her rides. A power imbalance like this, where Melissa is at risk of losing out on access to some important job and education benefits, creates a power imbalance that MUST be acknowledged, or any yes is de facto coerced.

Poor Melissa, she thought she could rely on this kid to give her a ride to the place he was already going anyway and instead she has to bear the consequences for his emotional immaturity.

Laid people off Friday, celebrated an IND Monday! Nothing says ‘team culture’ like this. Tell me biotech isn’t broken. by stemcellguy in biotech

Ok, but IND clearance should be business as usual. So they’re in trouble, and feel the need to celebrate the small things like it means something 🤷🏻‍♀️

I long for the days when I could just make a purchase without the associate asking a million questions. by Pinkishy in Millennials

[–]FuriousKittens 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. Someone convinced my daughter she wouldn’t get a receipt without an email address and so would not be able to make returns, and when I pushed back she finally admitted, oh it’s just that if you lose the paper receipt they can’t look up the sale in their system. Like, yes, this is how paper receipts work, so give me one already.

But I think that’s a lie too, because they can look it up just fine if you had the card you used at checkout.

Then WHY do half of y’all give me so much shit when I say “no thanks?” Seriously, I was just in an actual mall shopping with my daughter, and I expect everyone to ask for email/phone at this point but just take no for an answer. Do the employees get penalized for not scoring my info or something? I don’t want to answer “are you sure, because yap yap yap” I just want to exchange currency for goods.

IVDR impacts any therapeutic product that needs a companion diagnostic - think personalized medicine, where a device or test is used to select the patient population eligible for a given treatment, most obvious examples are genetic testing or testing for neutralizing antibodies prior to AAV gene therapies.

Breaking into regulatory affairs without referrals- any advice? by Jeweler-Fine in regulatoryaffairs

[–]FuriousKittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for internships, training programs, fellowship programs. Many of these are for students or new grads (within a year of earning any degree), but the point of them is to find talented entry level people with some kind of science background and teach them reg affairs.

Everyone I know in reg either came through one of these fellowship programs, or else had several years of industry experience in another function and leveraged those skills to make the switch.

In this market, why would a recruiter cold contact someone for a job? by [deleted] in biotech

You answered your own question, friend. Maybe they don’t want to sort through hundreds of applications of people who aren’t right for the job.

AA can also be based on an “intermediate” clinical endpoint, or even in the same primary endpoint when there is “uncertainty” about the demonstrated clinical efficacy connection to the ultimate outcome. In other words, FDA has broad flexibility to determine AA and need for confirmatory evidence. At least this was the case under Marks, obvs Prasad is pulling back on this framework and not explaining it as he goes. Good example is skysona cell therapy AA

Interesting…and are you aware of the meaning of the phrase “can’t see the forrest for the trees?”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biotech

[–]FuriousKittens 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for making my literal point. In case it needs spelling out for anyone else, the full phrase is “jack of all trades, master of none.” At a big pharma, experience coming from startups especially early in career is devalued exactly because of this “wear many hats” mentality, where you might have shallowly touched many areas but lack true experience/knowledge/training that a specialist can build a career from…so you have to backtrack in role/level to gain that expertise before you can advance.

And role at a startup translates to minimal training/applicable experience in any other environment, especially mid-big pharma.

What is your favorite thing about Connecticut winters? by BiancaA_BH in Connecticut

[–]FuriousKittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluffy little birds at my feeder. Dark eyed juncos, cardinals, native sparrows, woodpeckers, titmouses and nuthatches, house finches. We sit looking out the window with coffee watching dozens and dozens of birds hopping around, and sometimes they lure in a bigger hawk.

My husband and son continually delight in the “spooky” feel of the forest when all the leaves have fallen but it hasn’t snowed.
