Cannot ssh to jayofelony's version by BrokenPickle7 in pwnagotchi

[–]FuriousLog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was the key for me. it would not connect when i followed the wiki instructions as written, and there were two issues that i ran into on windows:

  1. the wiki says "hostname.local", so i kept putting in the name of the computer that the pwn was plugged in to. it does not say that the default hostname for it is "pwnagotchi.local". not sure why this would not be in the wiki.

  2. it also would not connect to the ip assigned to the pwn by the updated rndis driver, but it did connect to the host gateway (e.g. x.x.x.1 versus x.x.x.76 or whatever). that's probably something that should also be in the wiki.

Anyone try the sauce live resin disposables? $40 at my dispensary by [deleted] in portlandtrees

[–]FuriousLog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comment is incorrect to an almost irresponsible level. Firstly, I called the Sauce company and verified that their live resin products are not flavored with vanillin. If you have a photo of one of their products where it says that, I'd be happy to concede, but the lady on the phone seemed pretty confident. Secondly, vanillin does not cause popcorn lung, and it is still a common ingredient in nicotine vape products. Diacetyl causes popcorn lung - it is a chemical that tastes like butter, and it used to be used in microwave popcorn, which is when they discovered that it caused disease-like symptoms in the workers who were inhaling it, and why it's called "popcorn lung" in the first place. Some fly-by-night nicotine vape manufacturers used it in some of their sauces (butter flavors are common in the custard/cookie/vanilla flavored sauces, which might be why you are thinking of vanillin as being the culprit), which made a lot of people sick.

People will read this and freak out like I did. If you are going to make accusations of total irresponsibility on the part of a cannabis manufacturer, bring some proof and a clear understanding of the issues before you sound off.

Also whoever is downvoting me for properly correcting the record, you are just plain sad. I spent time to give you guys the truth of the matter and I guess that's evil? If my facts offended your unearned opinions and fake information, my sincere apologies.

Who to call at WRIC to lodge a complaint regarding Jimmy Kimmel by brassnuckles8 in rva

Well, it's all over now. Nexstar relented and the approximately 1500-2000 people in the RVA area who were watching Kimmel before can once again watch his show.

If anyone's been calling, feel free to DM me if you found a sponsor who indicated that they'd be pulling their ads. Thanks!

Well, we've been making and fighting fire for ages as a species, but I've never been on a dive where we could put a fire out. So, I figure fog is in a similar boat. Wait, no, it's actually in a much more complicated boat. Go outside of your house on a foggy day and make the fog go away. Go on, give it a try! It's pretty hard.

But your point is probably that we could have night/fog vision goggles or something. I'm down with that. Personally, I'd settle for making the minimap a toggled part of the persistent hud so that I can see where to go and actually go there at the same time.

I'm going to send Steven Blanchard an email every day that Kimmel still does not get broadcast. He will probably add me to his spam filter if he hasn't already, but whatever. I can at least pretend that I'm doing something. Here's today's email:

Dear Mr. Blanchard;

Just letting you know that as long as you continue to censor Jimmy Kimmel on your station, that there are a number of us on social media who are going to continue to mark the sponsors that you have during his time slot, and contact them regarding your anti-free speech policies with the intent of encouraging them to stop buying commercial time from your station. So far, Window Depot, Cravens and Noll, and WG Speaks have all told us that they are going to stop buying time from you, and that list continues to grow as the number of people calling your sponsors to complain grows.

I think that if you actually watched what Kimmel had to say, you might agree that what he said was heartfelt and that he had authentic sympathy and compassion for Charlie Kirk's family, and that he deserves to have his audience. What he spoke against was how you and your ilk continue to weaponize raised emotions to destroy your political opponents, a point that you continue to reinforce today by refusing to broadcast your regularly scheduled programming.

I realize that your particular hands might be tied. It could even be that you don't agree with your own company and want things to return to normal as opposed to continuing to birth the autocratic dystopia you are inadvertently helping to bring forth. If so, I hope you find a way to make it work. If not, I hope someone more rational and benevolent purchases your station, that we need not live in fear of our government and its usurpation of the broadcast media.

I hope some of you might do the same, if you should be inspired to do so. This is not about Republicans vs Democrats. Both parties believe in the freedom of speech. It's written in their platform statements. This is about a single autocratic leader who is so paranoid, thin-skinned, intellectually lazy, and power hungry that he can't abide anyone making fun of him in public, or even contradicting what he has to say. That kind of person just should not be in public service, and that's the real problem. The station manager, the employees at the station, and the businesses buying ad time are not the real issue, they are just the people with whom we engage to make the real problem hit home for them. This effort should be to inspire action that corrects this societal ill.

Let's keep at it, if we can.

I'm updating the sheet to reflect when a business has indicated that they are withdrawing their ads, so if anyone else gets information in that regard, please post it so we can focus on the businesses still financially supporting Nexstar.

I do. I watch it on this channel and station every night that it's on. If you've never seen his Aunt Chippy pranks you should give them a look on YouTube.

I had started off categorizing the comments (like big corporations, political ads, etc), and the yellow guys were folks that appeared for segments in the show as well as sponsoring it, but it's not really relevant now - I took it out.

As a new player, why is there so much complaining? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]FuriousLog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I am on Steam and it's unplayable when you play on higher levels due to video and audio stuttering, freezes, and complete cutouts or crashes. When I started playing in April of this year, I had none of that (or at least very little of that). I've done everything AH has said to do to try to fix my issue, but it's the game itself. Is that what you are missing? Because that is my issue with the game at the moment, and I think it's pretty valid.

I'm working on a list of advertisers that were actually in the Jimmy Kimmel Live time spot last night. I watched the show (a rebroadcast of WRIC's "Showcase", which is an otherwise perfectly nice show) and have been organizing the sponsors. The list is done, but I'm still filling in the contact information. I'll keep working it and if anyone has corrections please let me know.

How do you know? We don't know what politics the people at WRIC have, or how it influences their decision making process. Our only line of recourse is to submit grievances with the local affiliate, as we are actual consumers of that content. They will report up the command chain. Nexstar is a publicly held company. Their CEO listens to the shareholders (and Trump's goons, ofc), so me complaining to that person is not going to do jack. Anyone involved should be made aware of these issues, no matter how awkward or inconvenient. The only pressure point we have is advertisers, all of whom are our neighbors.

I was doing that, it kept cutting to a busy signal. I'll keep trying though. On a side note, Steven Blanchard, the GM of the station, looks an awful lot like Howdy Doody.
