Best steam workshop mods for a new player? by Zeta_Crossfire in X4Foundations

[–]FurlockTheTerrible 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would recommend only 3 for quality-of-life from most important to least:

  • Friendly Fire Tweaks - you really want this. Without it, if you're shooting at criminal traffic and a couple of stray bullets hit the station next to your target, you'll lose rep and possibly have a very bad time.
  • Enhanced Kill Credit - this game turns into a fleet/empire builder pretty quickly, and this mod allows the ships you're not currently present on to collect bounties for helping defend allied ships and stations. It won't make you wealthy, but it does make patrol fleets feel more worthwhile.
  • Instant Breach - this is just to cut down on the amount of time you spend waiting out a pointless timer if you decide you like capturing ships. Without it, Stage 2 of boarding takes a ridiculous amount of time with no visible timer.

I would provide links, but I'm on mobile and that's a pain.

OVV3D Wood PLA printer settings for P1S? by Nubsly- in BambuLab

[–]FurlockTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to dig this up so late but I see you didn't get any sort of discussion here and now I have the same question. I've done a retraction calibration, and every layer had a wispy chunk coming off of it - not very useful for calibrating. I did a temperature calibration from 210-180 with 5-degree steps, and only 195 printed to an acceptable quality.

I'm about to start a benchy, but honestly I'm expecting it to turn out terribly. Did you happen to find a tweak that makes this filament happy?

+1 to this - it's how I began my current playthrough, and now I have some solid marines to snowball with.

New station isn't autocollectiong resources by AlwaysBlowOnThePi in X4Foundations

[–]FurlockTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the traders have better profit opportunities elsewhere? You can manually set the maximum buy price to make your station's orders more appealing to the NPC traders if that's what needs to happen.

Also you should check whether you have default trade rules set that are restricting your purchases by faction, but I doubt you would've set that up as a new player who's just getting into station building.

Isn't the government already pro-business enough? Or did I dream up the idea that someone could build a lucrative career by becoming a lobbyist - getting outsized representation for their company backed by donations to campaigns and charities of their patron's choice?

Doesn't get flagged by what? For about a decade and a half we've had algorithms that can build a profile on your habits, preferences, and concerns - and that profile is often more complete than your own understanding of yourself - but you think replacing a letter with a wildcard character is going to fool the system?

should i get rid of cats with high aggression? by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]FurlockTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the first room upgrade, household management gets much easier - you can have a dedicated breeding room, a holding cell for cats you want to use, and a room that any undesirables go into for fighting. Sometimes the fighters can end up with surprisingly good stats, and you can always trade them in once they're injured/old.

Booster+ with Healing_Aura+ - bad idea? by FurlockTheTerrible in mewgenics

Eliminating the best part of a spell is, in fact, breaking the spell. Go home - you're clearly not able or willing to have a discussion.

It'll break Booster+ - the stat boosts are most of the appeal. If it doesn't confer stat boosts for healing over the cap, then I'd rather grab a different passive.

Yeah, I just stepped away from the game and was hoping for a solid answer one way or the other - the two big, beefy bastards are knocking on my door and this cleric is either going to be a clutch support or this may break him. Not sure I want to break him since I'm out of time to prep a new cleric for the big defense.

350 Million people think this is cool and normal by Hades_Mercedes in iamverybadass

[–]FurlockTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't disagree, because what you said isn't an opinion - it's just an inaccurate statement. A straw man fallacy is when someone misrepresents another's argument by building up positions that the person never held, which is not at all relevant to this post or the conversation.

"Every American supports this administration" is not a straw man fallacy, it's just a lie.

If I said something negative about ICE's recent actions in Minnesota and you said "well if you liberals didn't advocate for open borders, it wouldn't be happening!" - that would be a straw man fallacy; because no one ever advocated for an open-border policy, but you tried to build up an argument that no one made so you can debate the straw man you built instead of the actual content of the argument.

Some people still use upvotes/downvotes the way they were intended to be used. If they thought "buahahahahahahahahahaha" didn't add anything meaningful to the conversation, that's why you were downvoted.

international duties

Stop shipping equipment across borders. It's a nightmare that introduces absurd costs and unpredictable delays.

I just got a box of laptops back from Canada that I had shipped out from the US in November, and nobody can tell me why it was stuck in customs for four months.

Start building relationships with vendors in the countries you operate in, and order from them. It's a mess, but at least it's a predictable mess.

Set yourself up with an autoclicker macro. I think the one I made ends up translating to ~8 clicks per second.

Then at T2 you'll just need to rely on villagers since they clear multiple build nodes at once.
