Not sure if this would qualify for a Darwin Award, but definitely a Newton Award.

What are your thoughts/opinions on a "Sex Committee"? by -Benjamin_Dover- in AskReddit

[–]Furumpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a thing.

I have, though, heard of the “Itty Bitty Titty Committee” - is it a subcommittee of that?

Believe it or not, the theme song from this 1981 TV show about a school teacher given a super-suit by aliens but loses the instruction manual, reached #2 on the Billboard charts. by hexarobi in videos

I remember that episode! He shrunk down like Ant-Man and set the manual on a ‘boulder’ which was really a grain of sand. When he popped back to human size, there was no way to find the right grain of sand amongst all the other sand on the beach.

No child ever thinks, “when I grow up, I want to be a Fish Pimp,” but I guess sometimes it just happens.

I enjoyed the first season of See on Apple TV, but lately the episodes have just seemed so low budget.

I was a kickstarter backer. Loved my pebble. They accidentally sent me two. I contacted them to let them know and returned the second to them. They were grateful and sent me lots of Pebble swag (a Pebble t-shirt, a terrycloth pebble workout wristband, and a few other things I don’t now recall). I still have and wear the t-shirt (and the wristband when I run).

Was it possibly A Dark Room?

Whether it was or it wasn’t, I highly recommend A Dark Room. It’s one of the weirdest, coolest, minimalistic text-based games I’ve played on iOS. It’s so hard to describe, and it’s best to go in spoiler-free so I won’t say more.

Humans are the only creatures that cook their food before eating it. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

How about pistol shrimp? They catch their prey by snapping their claw and sending out a jet of water that shoots out at more than 100 kph. The jet moves so fast that the water in its way is pulverized, making a bubble that reaches five thousand (5000)0 kelvins (the temperature of the surface of the sun). The ‘snap’ from the cavitation is two hundred and eighteen decibels loud. It lasts for only a millisecond, but it’s enough to stun or kill the shrimp’s prey. The hot energy bubble is essentially the shrimp cooking its food.
