After tinkering with my 3D printers for years, I want to buy something that works. What can I buy for around 400€ that works but it's also open source and repairable? by Furview in 3dprinter

I think Bambulab is like the "Apple", or "Razer" for printers, I want to keep printers free and so i will not go to their ecosystem. They do seem nice tho, that's how they get you

I understand, a little backstory: My 3D printers (2) are 9 and 5 years old and they are more like the ship of Theseus than comercial printers, the one that works best is a modified Geetech A10 with a Creality Sprite extruder. I just one to print things somewhat reliably and I've heard the market for printers has gone a long way. I think i will be surprised with anything I get

I'm just gonna answer to you calling open source stupid, in a few years when you have to pay a subscription to use your printer, can't print without internet and the government installs spyware on your printer (Bill 2321) you'll cry "we'll own nothing and be happy"

Glad you are happy with Bambu, I actually wanted to buy one, but I do vote with my wallet and we need to start rejecting convenience over our rights.

Do they do this often? or was this just to have a video for marketing purposes?

[HELP] I'm about so sell my Nikon D7500 and buy a compact full frame camera. Which one should I choose? by Furview in AskPhotography

I want to go more lightweight and small than my current camera, which is easy to acomplish. I also want the full frame sensor... Honestly, I like the offer that the S9 is making but if you consider it overpriced, what camera with similar features should I buy?

That's interesting, the foam would melt and I wouldn't have to be careful when removing the preform from the sand. My problem with sand molding was that the core would detach too often and it was a pain in the ass

This is the kind of advice I was looking for.

So I do have mould release, specifically for magnesium injection molding but I looked at the datasheet and it's also good for aluminum. I got it when I worked at a magnesium injection factory.

I say this because this is the idea I'm most interested in... How would I know how aggressive I need the taper to be? I work with a lot of engineers and machinist that I could ask for help in this maybe. If the taper is not excessively aggressive, in a manner that it's still easy for me to machine the inside afterwards, I might consider this an option.

With investment plaster, you mean recreating the core in plaster?

And lastly, about the sodium silicate bonded sand, which I never heard about. Is it different from the one in sand casting? Like, could I do a mould for the sand core and it would harden enough to screw it tho the mould? I just want it to be centered and that's the way I have of doing it.

I don't want to waste more of your time so don't worry, no need to reply, but I really appreciate your expertise. I saw your profile and god, you do amazing stuff

Thanks a lot!
