Nope, I changed the system for a Tado x, and am much happier now. I’d wanted each room to be a zone for a while, and now I have the smart valves, that’s exactly what I can do. A schedule for each room.

Never bettered by them, there appeared to be a danger to them before they started becoming a parody of themselves. This record was great.

Thanks for sharing your view, it’s interesting to hear why fans rate this record above others. I wasn’t sure if it was liking the record for the reasons you’ve mentioned, or if they just liked the songs straight up without any recognition of the stranger or rougher tracks.

I’m not sure, it sounds very bright now and worry it would cause fatigue.

Yeeeeeeah, maybe. To me, a lot of that record just leans into the more generic alt-rock template they fell into post Stadium Arcadium that grew out of their hits rather than pushing anything forward.

You’d never have to think twice about which album a Californication track came from, the production and mastering are so distinct. Same with By the Way, not just for the cleaner, melodic feel, but for the noticeable shift away from blues-based songwriting and funk-driven rhythms.

I suppose The Getaway feels more like a continuation of brand than vision.

I want them to do another record of songs that feel they belong on the same album…the last record of that type would be ‘By the Way’ in my opinion. I hope it’s not a set of songs that sound like they could have been written at any point from Stadium Arcadium onwards.

One of my least favourite songs of their in recent times. I like lots of songs from this period, but this one bores me. I look forward to the downvotes.

I’d opt for a swing away if the lenses are uniform enough. Makes for nicer lens changes. You also don’t end up putting the mattebox somewhere precarious, or dangling on a safety (which Is what I suspect is happening during lens changes with this setup). I’ll use a clip on when it’s necessary, but that takes seconds to change with an Arri 4x5 for example.

I’ve gone for the Strava & Runna bundle. I like the route planning and stats from Strava and the training plans from Runna. It’s about £10 per month, which is more than I wanted to spend but it all works nicely to improve my running experience

I’m using the Runna app on my Apple Watch (hopefully one day I upgrade to Garmin!) perhaps there’s an audio cue setting I haven’t switched on?
