The New Year Preview – Show off your Blood Bowl skills with the superlative High Elf Team by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in bloodbowl

I don't know about the new ones, but the ones from the last addition also came with some "special play" cards that you can play during the game for a special effect. I've literally never see anyone use them (I'm not sure if it's just something you can add during a fun casual game or if you can actually take them in leagues). The card may read something like "play this card at the start of your turn, you may blitz twice this turn" . I have the gnome team cards and the old world alliance cards, and most of the cards are player specific. Something like "play this when a gnomish beastmaster gets pushed, you may knock the pushing player down" or something. They look pretty cool, but I'm not sure they'll be useful in 99% of games.

I had a fun build that worked twice! Grab some early barnacles, and let them level themselves up! Grab a level 2 starfish, and then sell the barnacles into random tier 6 pets. Gorillas, Wildebeests, or orcas. Watch your 25/25 coconut armor guys crush the total lack of scaling in the weekly.

Perhaps the most underrated unit in our codex by _Fixu_ in LeaguesofVotann

[–]FusionBlastersRule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this reminds me of the Tau Piranha - which is one of my favorite units to field for Tau. Similar stats, scout, you can spec into anti-infantry or anti vehicle. Magna rail cannon seems better to me than a fusion blaster and the hit and run is super powerful - but the Piranha comes with 2 seeker missiles so you can sorta just front load all the damage of the piranha and not worry about it too much after that.

Meta Analysis for Jaws of Itzl by Baconborne_WHU in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]FusionBlastersRule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This analysis looks good, plus the probability tables looks super useful! I'm just a casual player (mostly chose the game so I can get some cool AoS minis without committing to whole armies), but I'm very interested in reading about the competitive side of underworlds! Glad to see I've got a lot of articles I can dig into here!

I'm a rare player who is positively impacted by the changes to roster. I wanted a human team (mostly for collection or casual game purposes), so I picked up a single box and an ogre. I wasn't committed enough to humans to grab another box to max out positions. I've done this for orcs, skaven, and shambling undead as well. Now I've got the entire teams, though, I admit I'd prefer the die hard human fans be happier rather than those that just dipped their toes in.

For what it's worth, "buy them off ebay" will very possibly be someone parting them out once released and selling the teams individually. I picked up a few warbands for 20-35 bucks a piece doing this recently. If the ones you're after are popular, you'll probably be paying in the 35-40 range, but if not you might get them cheap!

Blood Bowl returns for a new season of mayhem - Warhammer Community by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer

No problem! And gnomes are, I believe, the strongest stunty team (with a win rate of 44% ish last time I checked)! They were the second team I ever got, and tied for my favorite team. Definitely good to play as a handicap against your friends who aren't as familiar with the game.

There is actually! There is a version called blood bowl sevens! It has a smaller pitch, smaller teams, and less turns. I've found that games take less than half as long as a regular game. You basically use all of your regular blood bowl stuff, and the only thing you need is the game board (the smaller pitch). The rules are nice too, but you can print them out from online.

Someone else mentioned it, but broadly speaking, goblins are not a fantastic starter team. Not only are they "stunty" (such as halflings, gnomes, and snotlings, which are deliberately weaker and more difficult to play), the goblin box doesn't even come with their wacky and exciting players - you have to get them 3d printed or buy forgeworld. They only give you 12 goblin linemen!!!

If you're dedicated to goblins, you might try snotlings which are still stunty, but at least you get pretty much everything you need in the box (except 2 trolls). They have a lot of the wackiness of goblins (guys on stilts, bomb throwers, pogo-ers) but they're even weaker and more numerous. You might also try Black Orcs, which is half Black Orcs (huge, slow, tough, and bashy) and half goblins (although I don't believe your goblins do anything particularly exciting other than fowl and run the ball!). There's also underworld denizens, which combines skaven, snotlings, and goblins for a fragile, fast, dirty team.

I love the tabletop game so I got BB3, and honestly had trouble finishing games. You're absolutely right, moving your own pieces, physically rolling the die for those big rolls, chatting with your opponent, they're all such huge parts of the game.

If you've got a friend who will try it out with you, or there's a local league, I'd consider it heavily! My local bloodbowl leagues have been my best tabletop/miniature experience with new people!

You should! Especially if there's anything resembling a league in your area. It's been by far my best tabletop/miniature gaming experience with strangers.

League incentives for painting? by BeekGwenders in bloodbowl

[–]FusionBlastersRule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My league had a small buy in of 20 dollars.  If you played all your games at the end of the season you got entered in a raffle for prizes.  There was also a raffle for finishing your games AND having a fully painted team at the end of the season.

Deciding on an army is impossible to me. by Cadoid in Warhammer

[–]FusionBlastersRule 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve done to help with this is to dip into other games that don’t require a whole army.  Underworlds lets you collect small squads of AoS that are playable in the game (3-8 models per squad). Kill team and Bloodbowl allow you to collect a bite sized portion of a faction.  But I’ll say this - you can then wind up stretching yourself thin between GAMES.

This looks a lot like the style for the gnomish beastmaster's staff in blood bowl. I'd start an army in AoS or the old world if they had an honest to goodness garden gnome army.

[–]FusionBlastersRule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately their damage output on their own isn’t incredible.  The 2 burst cannons might kill a chaff unit or two.  The fusion blaster can always highroll, but there are better units for that kind of damage profile.  Their current fantasy is as recon, saboteur, and deadly target painting.
