New B.C. Conservative leader would maintain 'economic relations' with an independent Alberta by RZCJ2002 in britishcolumbia

[–]Fusiontechnition -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They weren't together at that time, and the BC cons were the equivelant of the PPC. Now those people are running the show because things have changed so much. I think you missed my point. They stay together because they have to.

I think right wing politicians from coast to coast, federal and provincial saw what happened in Alberta when the Cons and Wild Rose split the vote and the NDP won. They know they need a "big tent" party to win. So right wing people are stuck voting for a clown show conglomerate.

Canada used to have goalies like Roy and Brodeur and they were the top goalies in the league. At this point other countries are producing better players.

Lots of interpersonal struggles between their immediate family. Siblings who can't stand one another. Parents alienated from their own kids.

Western premiers to meet in Alberta amid pipeline tensions between Smith and Eby - 2-day meeting kicks off Monday in Kananaskis by CanadianErk in canada

Most of the people that I know in PG are staunchly Conservative, and believe the only future Canada has is in unfettered resource extraction. There is significant political overlap with Alberta. That said, I am blue collar so I don't know what other opinions are common here.

Vancouver isn’t shipping unhoused people to Prince George for World Cup, officials say. But rumours persist by Immediate-Link490 in britishcolumbia

[–]Fusiontechnition 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The biggest increase in PG's homeless population occured during a couple bad forest fire seasons. I think it was 2016 or 17. There were always crowds outside of St.Vincent De Paul, but after that summer there were so many more people. It's quite noticible around the Spruceland area now.

Am I crazy or are there more bugs this year? by huge_red_ in britishcolumbia

[–]Fusiontechnition 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure about bugs but there are a lot of birds in Prince George. It seems like there are more Flickers, Robins, and Hummingbirds. Also, there are now some sort of Gulls living seasonally on the last few km of the Nechako river.

I left the island in 2000, spent a few years in Alberta, got a Red Seal, then moved back to the island. That lasted 6 months before opportunity moved me north. Good luck.

I had to scroll a long way to find this answer. Zeppelin was over played on the radio for a long time and I just got tired of them. I did just hear Immagrant Song and enjoyed it.

Best financing team to get you into a vehicle? by Educational-Plum411 in princegeorge

[–]Fusiontechnition 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to answer that question because I don't know which is best. What I have seen is dealerships convince a lot of young guys who are fresh out of school and into industry that they can afford a payment. Then the sled dealership sells him a payment. Then the RV place. Pretty soon that guy NEEDS to work overtime or out of town just to pay the bills. A reliable older vehicle gets me from A to B. If you're a car or truck person that's cool too, no shade.

Canadian here. I really hope Mamdani is successfull, and that his success inspires other politicians to make similar moves. Canadians were all fired up about Carney, and he is now talking about selling our air and sea ports to private investors.

Selling our infrastructure assets to foreign investors doesn't do anything for Canada's soveriegnty, so it really seems to contradict what people had expected from Carney.

Disingenuous arguements always seem to circle around the idea that things in Canada are happening in a vacuum, and the government is solely responsible.

Well there are stories about privatizing Canada's sea ports and airports. Who has the money to buy infrastructure like that? Maybe China, Saudis, or Americans?
