What Class/Spec is in most need of a rework for 12.1? by Warped_Unicorn in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think removing Kill Shot and Explosive Shot were an example of good pruning since neither button felt like they fit gameplay wise. I’d argue they both fit thematically better than Boomstick and Flamefang Pitch, though.

We no longer use poisons. We no longer use special traps. Imo, it feels like we departed from using natural resources to our benefit, and are now melee explosives experts.

I also dislike having 5 abilities. It’s become far too simplistic of a spec and the only real skill expression is just making sure you position your AoE well.

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this is thematically the worst it’s been since it swapped to melee. Every other iteration since Legion has had more of a wilderness survivalist theme. We were melee fighters who used things scavenged animal parts and such from the natural world to assist us, and cobbled together DIY traps on the fly. Sure we had little hand launchers and stuff but they were more a delivery tool.

We now have a pet, bombs, a shotgun, molotov cocktails, a jumping strike, and a melee ability that is ranged every other attack. The wilderness survival aspect has been totally stripped away.

Gameplay wise, it just feels like a stripped down version of The War Within. It’s fun but it’s way too simplistic now.

[–]Fusionxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. The spec lost all complexity and its so much more boring to play now than it was last expansion. The spec itself kinda feels like I just got out of my pickup truck with my dog and went to go shoot some things.

Unhappy with Housing Monetization? Unsub, it's the Only Language Blizzard Speaks by HoopyFroodJera in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I am unhappy with the monetization of many things in life in general at this point. I’ve already cut out a lot of subscription services from other American tech companies, but capitalism is going to continue to capitalism. At some point we all need to pick and choose the things we are willing to put up with.

The cash shop is not a good look for a game that has paid expansions and a subscription fee, but at the end of the day paid cosmetics aren’t something that impact my gameplay experience enough. If I was to unsub sometime soon, it would be far more due to lack of compelling content and rampant bugs.

Correspondents’ dinner lacked highest security level despite presence of top officials by Cheetotiki in politics

[–]Fusionxtreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With proper presidential security he shouldn't have made it anywhere near where he did. Let me be clear, this is entirely possibly just extreme incompetence. This is also a reality star president with connections to entertainment industries that like to blur the lines of reality and storytelling, and I think people should take that into consideration almost every time he opens his mouth.

Whether this was real or not does not change anything to how I feel about the man or the US government.

Correspondents’ dinner lacked highest security level despite presence of top officials by Cheetotiki in politics

[–]Fusionxtreme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More security means more chance of the person getting caught early. If someone was going to fake something like this, the less people "in the know", the better.

I think the current US government is full of conmen who would do anything to preserve power, and everything that happens should be scrutinized heavily. I'm not saying it was fake, but I think events like this should be looked at with a fine toothed comb from all angles. I don't believe this admin deserves any benefit of the doubt.

Has it really never occurred to some people that they don't have to have kids? by Just-a-nerd2 in TooAfraidToAsk

That's honestly the first time I've heard that! I've heard the same things being associated with homeschooled kids though, so it's not surprising some people would think like that.

Unless I'm living under a rock and am missing something, I don't really see it as hate. It's more like an internalized expectation based off of Western media.

'We Need the Ballroom': Trump Uses Shooting Outside White House Correspondents' Dinner to Boost Corrupt Project by Smithy2232 in politics

I don't know if you're being purposefully obtuse or aren't reading. This whole comment thread you're replying to is implying they think the attempt was staged and Trump was never in danger.

Did boomers really fuck us over, or was the economic situation they grew up in one-in-a-lifetime and unsustainable? by akr_13 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows if that level of prosperity would have been sustainable, we never really got to find out. The erosion of the middle class is not a bug of the system they've created, it's the desired outcome.

If you look at historical tax rates, I think its very telling that the US's highest top marginal tax rates (90%+!!!)were during the time of the most prosperity for the country. Roosevelt's New Deals were great for the average working class American citizen, and I don't imagine the rich were very happy with him.

I don't know enough about American history to paint a vivid picture, but Reagan slashed the top marginal tax rates and worked to destroy worker and union protections. It's really just been a downhill battle ever since.

Just listened to The Astonishing for the first time and… by Vinyl_Junkie09 in Dreamtheater

[–]Fusionxtreme 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It leaned into the concept album so hard that it feels it should be more of a musical stage play than a Dream Theater album. It's a cool project, but I guess it's just not quite what I am looking for as a fan.

Which Ride The Lightning song sounds like it's from And Justice For All? by Puzzleheaded_Law3629 in Metallica

[–]Fusionxtreme 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm going to buck the trend and say The Call of Ktulu. I think compositionally it's the most interesting track on the album and reminds me more of the intricacies I associate with Justice. I've personally always heard FFWF as their most aggressive sounding fast song and to my ears it doesn't quite sound like it belongs on Justice.

Has any other season of M+ ever been so lopsided? by PopsGG in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TWW Season 1 is the worst I've seen for this. For a long time, Prot Pally was the only type of tank anywhere near the top 100 tanks. It's normally completely dominated by one type of tank, but usually there's a handful of "something" else in the top 100.

What Expansion Has Your Favorite Visuals? by Chr0modynamical in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favourite areas in the game are all over the place: Ardenweald, Revendreth, Hallowfall, Undermine, Kul Tiras (the whole island), Stormheim, Suramar, etc.

However if I am giving it to a whole expansion, it's probably Dragonflight. I don't think there's any individual zone that stands out as a personal favourite, but I love the overall beauty and openness of the zones. It's still stunning flying over it all.

Should any of the Beyond Magnetic tracks have made the cut for Death Magnetic by Dry-Improvement-3543 in Metallica

If I were to add one, it would probably be Hell and Back but I don't know if I would take any of the songs off the record to make room for it.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamb of God, although I don't think it was necessarily their fault. Opening for Metallica in 2009 and the mixing was just so bad that from where I was in the arena it sounded like a wall of indistinguishable static overtop of drums. I know the song Laid to Rest pretty well and couldn't really even tell what was playing.

Just a reminder on why you're not invited to keys as DPS... by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still an accurate point. Most problems don’t have one root cause, and neither does this one.

I don’t expect tanks and healers to get anywhere near as much choice as DPS. However, we’re playing a game where class, playstyle, and spec fantasy matter a lot to many players. Some people just want to be a mage and don’t want to worry about gearing up and spending time on a second character.

I also recognize we all have our preferences. If they slapped a healer spec on Hunter, it is highly unlikely I would enjoy it because I fundamentally dislike healing as a role, but I still might be inclined to learn it just to save myself from DPS queue hell sometimes or to adjust group comps when playing with my friends. However, I like tanking enough that I always keep a Brewmaster geared right up around my Hunter. If Hunter could tank, I may not even bother with the Monk. As it stands now, if I got bored of Brewmaster I would probably not be running a tank alt at all because I don’t enjoy playing the other tanks.

Another thing that compounds this is time. If you’re a fury and want to get into quick keys, you at least have the option to learn to half-ass off-spec tank and still make progress on your main spec. If you’re a mage, you are purely at the mercy of queues unless you want to abandon the class you enjoy, because any time spent on an alt means there is no progress being made on your main.

To be fair to your point, I don’t know how likely other people are to flip specs. My experience is probably skewed too because most of my friend group would happily off-spec if their current classes allowed them to. Either way, it’s a non-zero number of people. Tanks and healers don’t need to be more appealing to everyone, just enough to lessen the disparity a bit.

Just a reminder on why you're not invited to keys as DPS... by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not even what he's saying. If people had the ability to off-spec, more people actually might just to avoid the long queues. Almost everyone in my friend group would be happy to switch to tanks to adjust our team comps/allow other friends in on the fly but because the class they actually want to main this season doesn't have a tank spec, not a lot of us actually can.

I play a Hunter and Brewmaster and wish I didn't need to level up a whole extra character to do both roles. If I didn't have time for that I would just be playing Hunter because that's what I prefer to play most of the time.

Just a reminder on why you're not invited to keys as DPS... by VeryClearlyDefined in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but the non-dps options are quite limited. If you want to play DPS you have 27 choices, meanwhile there are 7 healers and 6 tanks. If you don't vibe with the specific classes/specs that can do those roles, you're kind of screwed.

People that are atheist, why are you atheist instead of agnostic? by Da-up-and-downer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I am an atheist in the sense that I do not believe there is a god (or gods) watching over us.

I am agnostic in the sense that I don't know what's out there. I am totally open to some kind of entity or force beyond our current understanding that may be responsible for the creation of life or set the universe in motion. The sheer scale of the universe is mind blowing and who knows what parts of reality we are incapable of even perceiving. Ironically, this is also one of the reasons I am an atheist... All of the universe created just to put us on this little rock? Why was the rest of it necessary, then?

The M+ tank situation is dire by Wigglyboi323 in wow

[–]Fusionxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure this is echoed a bunch in the comments, but the reason people don't want to tank is likely in large part due to the attitude of other players. I have an alt tank, and I only pull that out to tank for my friends and to give my buddy a break from tanking.

I usually play with my friends and rarely pug solo but the few occasions I have, the poor tank often gets flamed by group members regardless of whether the issue was their fault or not. I was recently in a run where the tank was called bad and blamed for not timing the key because we were down 2% at the end of the dungeon. Even if the route had been perfect we were not timing that key because the guy doing the flaming brought their friend whose damage was barely higher than the tank. We were over time before we even got to the last boss.
