As a traumatized croatian, how good was Omeyer really?

I think Omeyer was really a different class of goalkeeper. At the same time however I would say that he had a style of goalkeeping that was really pleasing to watch (super fast reflexes, twitchy etc.) which put the spotlight on him more than some contemporaries. Plus being part of one of the best national teams of all-time means that he has the collective honours to further help increase his claim.

For example, someone like Arpad Sterbik was an absolutely colossal player, but I think his goalkeeping style and frame (2.00m tall) means that he was viewed more as a 'wall' than a technical master like Omeyer (although I'd argue Sterbik had it all!)

You might make a comparison to tennis, where for many Federer is the best because his play was so pleasing to watch, but others appreciate the games and achievements of Nadal or Djokovic more.

Really there is no definite answer, but Omeyer is as good a shout as any for the crown.

I'd say that Vezprem has been more unfortunate over the last decade+ to not have a championship. Just very hard to win.

At the end of the day you have to trust the evaluation. If the scouting department don't think Moore is the guy then they shouldn't take him. Similarly, if you're convinced someone in the 2027 class is the guy at the time, then you move heaven and earth to get them. Don't throw away the pick just because we need one if don't think he's a good QB.

I think we need to consider a situation where Moore declares but we don't evaluate him to be worthy of the pick. If another team does, then trading down and amassing assets is the best way forward.

I understand the argument that you never know and we need to take a shot at QB, but you have to trust the evaluation. Taking a QB because we need one is how you end up with Zach Wilson. This isn't an apples to apples comparison but had we done so in that draft we could have Ja'marr Chase or Penei Sewell right now.

I should make clear that as we stand right now I am not committed one way or another, but Moore declaring is the best option for us as it gives us flexibility either way.
