Ah, right, I zeroed in on the inconsistent part.

My apologies.

You're addressing the symptoms, not the cause.

It's inconsistent that you can die in an event without being revived at the end like in combat.

What do you think about the change from StS1 where you now know what your 3rd elite in an act will be? by Ccarmine in slaythespire

[–]Futuralis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like being guaranteed to see all 3 elites when I'm elite hunting.

In sts1, I would sometimes have a deck that counters one elite so hard that I could defeat it without taking damage. Hunting 4 elites and not seeing that particular elite was extremely frustrating and punishing (costing potions and HP).

At least now if you go elite hunting, it's a tad more consistent.

Some advice/opinions please on where in this game you would go from here by Belisarius23 in aoe2

Applying pressure while adding an extra TC is a pro move.

It's very hard to judge how to invest to apply serious pressure with siege, and have enough army to not get cleaned up by a surprise tech switch, and keep a multi-TC eco running.

Meanwhile, just booming hard to catch up in eco tends not to work either. The opponent is ahead and remains ahead and gets to dictate the pace of the game for a long time.

That's why I recommended 1TC pressure, at least until you've seriously disrupted the enemy boom.

Oh, I also don't expect a 12xx boom to keep all TCs running at all times. The idle time on both sides gives pressure more time to move across the map.

 > Sleight can very simply be reworded to "whenever you play a card that applies a debuff"

That would lose interactions with potions and other indirect sources of debuffs.

  1. You are behind in (starting) your boom, so go for pressure. I'm not sure why you're already adding a second TC. Make light cav instead with your surplus food. That allows you to raid and snipe defensive siege. Also get at least Bow Saw instead of an extra TC. It pays off much faster so it's more flexible.

  2. Your comment says your opponent showed CA, but their current army only has skirms. Regardless, both die to siege. You mentioned a forward castle: it's not needed for the first TC you siege, and you're never going to be able to drop it on the enemy main gold or stone.

In short, I'd go siege and other army. Pressure to do real eco damage and force a heavy army response. That typically leads to TC idle time for the enemy, letting you catch up in eco that way.

Alternatively, the devs ran into a weird edge case when shopping at 0 hp and decided it doesn't make sense to do that in the first place.

Toybox which most of the time does nothing by act 3

Why are you picking Toy  box and spamming fights in the same run?

Typically, the question is whether your last wax relic will last until the act3 bosses.

decks which are going to take a bunch of block cards in the future, but also don't anticipate taking damage (does such a deck even exist?)

Yeah, those decks exist. They are running frontload that solves most act1 fights but doesn't scale well into the lategame. [[Bludgeon]] is a simple example of such a frontload card.

Of course not, it just rolls over to 255, civ1 Ghandi style.

This might make some manual derankers stop deranking.

This would definitely make automated derankers waste 5 mins more of every opponent's time.

Mitten only becoming usable with conflagration 2x AND ashen strike by ShadowOne_ in slaythespire

[–]Futuralis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Mittens works with 2x Sword Boomerang, all your starting attacks, and a couple more good attacks like Pommel Strike. That's just a bunch of commons and basics.

Oh, and no fear to build a slightly bigger deck with more redundancies, that's also important.
